Kansas is good and its tough playing any team twice....but I see the Cats taking home number 8 by double digits. UK is 8-0 against the other Elite 8 teams that were left in the field, and that isn't by coincidence IMO.

Anthony Davis is the greatest freshman of all time, and it could be argued he is the best shot blocker of all time (for a single season anyway).

Hope they take it home for the state, because they will lose their top 6 players to the NBA this year and have to start over next year... Nature of the beast when you get the best players to all play at one school. (Exhibit B UNC)

I predict UK ( I am from Kansas). I would love KU to win. KU is a young team and not enough depth. I don't really know how they got to where they are at to begin with. Sometimes its better to be lucky then good. :)

Yikes. Kevin Durant > Anthony Davis.

UK by 6-8. Kentucky is the far better team, but KU is hot right now and Bill Self has Kansas playing incredibly sharp and focused, so they'll keep it close.

A far better team? I guess we will see about that. KU won't lay down when they get behind. And Heckler, shame, shame.

How is Kansas not a far better team? They're better at every position.

That's a close one. If you think defense is more important then you may lean toward davis but davis could score more if ky didn't have 6 averaging in double figures. Hell he is one of their last options to score but one of their best scorers.

Im hoping ky stays the course and plays their game. If they do they will bring the trophy back home where it belongs ;)but Kansas wont lay down and will make it tough on ky.

Prediction: The singing of the National Anthem will go down as one of the biggest disgraces of all time. Who picks these idiots to screw something up so bad? Just disgraceful.

Kevin Durant averaged more rebounds than Davis, still averaged two blocks per, all the while scoring 25 points per game in a far tougher conference.

You could even argue that Mike Beasley was a better freshmen than Davis when he averaged 26 and 12 as a freshman.

Anthony Davis is very, very good and that's no slight to him, but Kevin Durant was simply a better overall player than Anthony Davis.

Davis set the all time blocks record tonight for a freshman( almost 5 per game). He also plays 4 minutes less than Durant and 1 less rebound per game. Durant scores more, that's it and that's because ky has plenty of other scorers.
Heck, he has double figure blocks on 3 point shots this season.

1 more thought. Hard to rebound when your team is shooting 50%+ from the field. That eliminates many offensive rebound opportunities.

Without question they are 2 great players but imo , davis is by far the better defender and that holds more weight than scoring.(AS FRESHMEN)

IMO Magic Johnson is the greatest freshman of all time...

Carmelo Anthony, Durant, and Beasley would be right up there too...

So now the focus will be on if Cal takes the Championship and runs to the NBA. I've heard this speculation on a couple different sports shows. UK fans would burn Lexington to the ground...again.

I don't think he will leave this juggernaut he has built just yet. 5 years from now when the recruiting starts winding down from where it is now? Maybe.

Durant and Beasley were one man shows on their team, of course they would have inflated points. Durant is FAR better now than I ever see AD being but as far as a single freshman season goes, how could you not give the nod to AD? Anthony Davis takes the FOURTH most shots on our team as the NPOY....that just doesn't happen. At his efficiency (sans last night), he would be mid 20s as well if he led our team in attempts. Playing along side 5 other NBA first round players in college tends to make it a bit harder to stand out, and he has anyway.

Has any other freshman, or upperclassman for that matter (serious question I have no clue) won all of the following in a single year.

National Defensive Player of the Year
    National Freshman of the Year
National Player of the Year (5 of big 6.. Oscar Robertson, AP, Rupp, Naismith....)
    Final Four MOP
    National Championship
Conference Defensive Player of the Year
    Conference Player of the Year
    Conference Freshman of the Year

He finished with 186 blocks (4th all time behind three guys that played at Alabama A&M, Navy, and Northeastern..slightly easier competition one would think lol)

Durantula changed college basketball, but no freshman has ever impacted the games on both ends the way AD has. There have been and will be far better players than Anthony Davis, but it's pretty hard arguing he hasn't had the best freshman season ever. Part of the reason it isn't that bold of a statement is freshman of yesteryear weren't allowed to play.

How long are Davis' arms? He looked like plastic man out there. I can't imagine how bad it would have been if he had been making his shots.

Its no secret Davis is exceptional for a freshman. Easily one of the best ever. Freshman do benefit from the lack of talented upper classmen in today's game. There have definitely been more talented freshman in history, but they had to play behind talented upper classmen or play against talented upper classmen.

You can argue Davis' offensive output was less because of the talent around him, but I think thats what made him more efficient. He is limited offensively right now. I assume he will get a lot better. Many of his baskets come off lobs and put backs after his defender had to help on one of the other UKs talented players. Davis could very well be more talented offensively than he appears, if he was needed to be. He did was his team needed.

Defensively, I can't think of anyone close off the top of my head other than Greg Oden. Oden had a better offensive game, but he didn't dominate defensively as much as Davis. I also think OSU had better perimeter defenders. Still, Davis affects 2-3 times the number of shots he blocks. Count those with his blocks, and you look at him altering around 15 or shots per game. Thats crazy.

UK was the best team all year, and they showed why again last night. Very impressive win for them.
