I was wanting to know if anyone close by is up for taking some turkey or deer with me this year. I have a few friends that bowhunt but I hate to say it but they are unreliable. To many mornings I have gotten up to head out only to get a phone call or text telling me they are not gonna make it. Granted...I'll go it alone like I usually do, but I think it makes a greater experience to be around people that love the same thing. I do have some places locked down to hunt this year as well as land to hunt during late season "Urban Archery Season". I've talked to few members here that are close by. I'm limited to where I can travel but I'm up for anyone coming here. So anyone up for it post here or PM me and we can plan somthing out. I also have a target range out back up to 45 yds so siteing in is no problem. As far as Turkey goes I have put in for a permit for a local spot and the lottery drawing is Monday so if you want to get in on my party ($5) let me know and i'll give you the party number. I think there are like 2 or 3 more spots on it. I am also hunting a friends property close by that is private so if you can't do the permit than we can set up something for that. If you want to mapquest the distance from your place to mine I'm in Valdese, NC 28690. Thanks everyone!
6.5 hours is a bit far someone will be grateful for the opportunity .... i must say you are a very generous person and lucky to have land to hunt on your own.... im in the same boat but my unreliable, very LAZY friend is the one that owns/has rights to the land.
I hear ya about the distance. I honestly feel that if I have the opportunity to share a hunt with someone...down the road someone might do it for me. I enjoy meeting others that enjoy bowhunting also. Needless to say my wife gets a little tired of hearing about it at times and my son is still to young to pick up a bow. All I do is bowhunt...I had a bad experience with a gun back in 1993 and don't really mess with them. Long story short...I was a repo man and was shot by a 12 guage (slug) in my right wrist and it is now fused and packed with steel like freakin terminator...lol. I've shot guns but just don't any. But if you ever make it out this way you have an open invitation!
I may can work something out with you, I live about 1.5-2 hours away in Salisbury, NC. I'm too busy fishing to turkey hunt.
I would enjoy hunting with you i live up here on the back side of mt.airy but i dont think my tags are eligible in your district. Do you have stands and blinds? Do you have cameras? I know not everybody can afford all the material things in hunting i got an old 35mm camera, a big 5 hub blind and the old trusty bow ?
I have stands, 1 blind and cameras...so all is good. Not to sure about the tags...I thought they were good for the whole state but I may be wrong. Just let me know...I'm up for anything!
my hunting buddy is dealing w/ medical issues and we are fighting off poachers and dogs everytime we turn around i swear i sat up on a bait pile last year and it sounded like the vietnam war on the other side of the ridge so i got pissed and went squirrel hunting i was going to hunt my wifes grandparents land up here in va its on the backside of a apple orchard and a big open field with a water source a plenty of funnel points do you have any big boys on film?
do you hunt food plots or funnel areas ? or do you hunt by camera movement ? everybody does things differently i'd just like to be on the same page with you. I like strategy.
did you do any good this past season? we harvested a few does trying to do a little management hoping to see a few more bucks and also to put some straps in the pan
I've never took a gobbler by bow but i'm hoping to this year got all my calls and decoys, blind and all ready & waiting but i'm dying to get a hog the rates are a little expensive for a problematic animal in my eyes but I'm still looking locally va tenn nc sc my wife is wanting to vacation in myrtle beach this year so i am thinking of a one day hunt around there some where
Unfortunatly I was not able to hunt last year due to moving back to NC from FL. I just had so much going on It just wasn't possible. I didn't get my cam till late season so look at the pics in my profile. A small doe and young 5 pointer. We have Urban Archery season from early Jan to early Feb. It's nice though because I walk out my back door about 50 yards and into the woods to hunt.
You will definitly find some nice hogs on the coast. I just might have a place to get some ferrel hogs...but I gotta do some more butt kissing to my buddy...lol I am hoping to do the turkey permit hunt if my number is chosen and a buddy is letting me hunt his land. So if you don't have a spot this spring and want to take the drive just let me know!
I'm in Charlotte and looking for a place to turkey hunt. I've never done it before so, like deer hunting, it will be self taught.
You are very gracious in your offer. I would guess Valdese is about 3 hrs. from Raleigh?? I do not have much time in the spring...my daughter just had fastpitch tryouts this morning, they start practice in a couple of weeks and my son will be starting Tball practice in April. That takes up just about all of my "free" time. I try to do all I can with the family for the next few months cause I am usually a "ghost" starting in Sept.
