If he KNEW he was being recorded then this whole thread is pointless. He is a complete dumbass and deserves everything that happened to him. BUT, if he though this was private convo, then he deserves none of it. People are free to their views whatever they may be and should still be able to hold jobs, own companies, be rich, ect. Which means his girlfriend should go to jail right?
Not yet but he will be. He's out and there is no where else for him to go other than turning it over to someone else (wife) Either way he is out. I also watched a lawyer on FOX whom happened to be black and he was talking how the NBA really had no legal grounds as of yet to force him out of the league, until it is hurting the brand. IE, loss of sponsorship for the league, not his team. We'll see what happens when it's a player that says something about whites on tape. The reaction will be the opposite I'm sure. I don't support what he said but I support his right to say it, especially in his own home. I guess words are louder than actions. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
I've heard the same. Now the woman is saying she didn't release the tapes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
It was a private recorded conversation. Just because its private and being recorded does not mean that the person being recorded should expect it to be made public. It is the way we should think nowadays with social media though. I still dont think he deserves everything that happened to him, it was still a private conversation. No his girlfriend is fine, he knew he was being recorded. If he didnt know, that would be a different matter. ALL this is my understanding from my research and im not a legal expert.
You guys keep ignoring my comments about Kobe calling people (starts with an F) all the time. He can get away with rape, homophobia and probably murder if he tried...LOL Im sure a racist comment wouldnt matter much to his legacy.
Dude...no I'm sorry, but this is just flat out wrong. You cannot be prosecuted for your views by the government, but you most certainly can be fired for your views and opinions by a private entity.
IF you make them public. What i say in my own home is no different then what i think in my head...they are my thoughts, not meant for the world or the public or even my neighbor. If i make t shirts and post it on twitter...then yes, obviously ramifications are to be expected. But NOT if im in my living room watching TV and getting recorded secretly.
There is an expectation of privacy in your own home. This part does concern me about the whole thing. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk
Its the only thing worth discussing as far as im concerned. Kinda like illegal searches and seizures in a murder case...if the cops didnt have a warrant, a killer can get off legally even though he did it and everyone knew it. All that matters is whether this guys private conversation can warrant this much ramification. Racist 80 year old white guy...yawn.
his mistress, or maybe more appropriately, ex-mistress is now saying she meant no harm to Sterling and there was another person in the room so it wasn't a private conversation. My response would be - BS. As far as his statements made in the privacy of his own home, since he is a high profile target for media, in his circumstances he was a fool for saying his thoughts in front of his gold digger.
I dont think this is useless, I still think even being recorded that he has a reasonable expectation of privacy since it was a private conversation among a select group of people. Its like home videos, you have some expectations that they will be kept private.
I'm not going to hijack this thread but I will defend the Bible and refute your post. This will be my last response to this, if you want to go private messages we can (or another thread). First of all, you are not getting what I'm hinting at. It doesn't matter what people use as their motive if the item they use doesn't condone that sentiment. So whatever you're trying to say, it makes no sense. The Bible is both literal AND metaphorical, depending on the specific words used. If you count the years beginning with creation and Adam and go through all the so and so begat so and so (begat means to have a child) it most certainly DOES end up being about 6000 years to present. The Bible accounts for about a 3,500 year span, and then you add from the end until now, it is roughly 6000 years.
Spear, wasnt so much attacking the bible. But like you pointed out, literal and metaphorical. Metaphorical can make it be interpreted in many different ways. If people want me to start another thread discussing literal and metaphorical, of which we will get nowhere, then, like this post.
Those saying he hasn't been forced to sell.... He will be. NBA already announced they will have a vote among owners and a 3/4 vote will send him packing as the NBA takes over the team and runs it until it sells. Do you think any owner in his right mind will vote against the leagues wishes knowing the NBA could release the votes pinning you as the guy who didn't stop racism. Only two sides to this intrigue me, how/where he was recorded and how the sale will take place. As stated before I understand them banning him from NBA activities and a max fine. What I don't get is how they can dictate to him selling something he owns outright. Again, who sets the price here and what about Cali law dictating his wife owns 50% of the team?
Its kinda weird how a racist guy is the coach of a basketball team.I also don't understand how he was stupid enough to say these things in public.
He isn't the coach, he is the owner... and he didn't say them in public, his girlfriend recorded him saying them in his own home... But other than that...
