Personally, I don't think Phil Robertson did anything wrong. His is a faith related issue. If Sterling's issues were faith based, well, that would be a slightly different subject. You have the right to believe anything you want, to be a racist or not. But if your faith decrees a certain belief, the legal rights change a little. Kinda makes you wonder if there is a defense against hate crimes because the accused has a faith decreeing racist views. I suspect it would not hold up in court.

I'm not saying they don't have a right to vote him into selling.... I just can't wait to see how this sale goes down and who dictates the price of his own company?

Say he refuses to sell...then the NBA removes the Clippers as one of their Franchises. What happens to the players? Coaches? are they screwed? Or will they get released from there contracts?

The NBA is not going to remove the Clippers from the NBA. If he refuses to sell, the NBA is going to sue him, then he will sue back and blah blah blah it will just get dragged out in the courts. I'm sure all this is going to go to the courts anyways very soon though.

I would also just like to say that I think the "lifetime ban" is ridiculous and sets a really slippery precedent.

That whas my thought as well.

The NBA has the right to force him to sell IF his actions are detrimental to the league and clearly with sponsorship the way it is, it could possibly hurt the NBA financially but imo, that has not happened yet . To the franchise, yes, but not to the league so as of now, he has legal grounds to sue imo.

But he's 80, multi billionare that will make a 1/2 billion + on the sale so I doubt that happens.

Guys. I can understand if he knew he wasn't being recorded. But it seems like he knew from the things I read. Sure he should be expected some expectation of privacy but in today's age he should have known better than to say those things if he knew he was being recorded.

Punishment seems really stiff and unfair to me, but not totally surprised in today's age. He really should have known better.

What Phil or this guy did isn't right or wrong. It's what is politically correct in today's world with mass media. There are repercussions for the things you say openly if people disagree with them.

That moron Sterling damaged his product and the NBA product as well. However those actions are subject to the NBA governing standards I don't know. I will tell you this however, people would be shocked by the language and level of conversation NBA players have on and off the court. Could you imagine some of the conversations we would be privy to if some of the NBA superstars were secretly recorded? Dudes at parties badmouthing people of every race, sniffing coke, saying mf n***** repeatedly.

Sterling should be sanctioned but to think he is the only guy out there that is racist, including some of the nba players themselves, is ridiculous.

I agree with the lifetime ban....the freekin idiot deserves what he got ... now I don't believe it should go outside of the NBA, however....

Selling the team was a given regardless of what the commissioner and other owners did.

What was Sterling going to do without sponsors...fan support....a coach....players who want to be there?

I'm just waiting to see how they're going to force Sterling to sell the team. Is it in the NBA "constitution" that you have to sell your team if you get a unanimous vote from the owners? Mark Cuban had it right when he said it's scary if they can and it's a slippery slope.

What will happen when a superstar gets caught saying something racist? Don't they have to ban him for life?

I also think this whole Magic Johnson thing is real shady. The NBA has been trying to get Sterling out and Magic has been interested in buying the Clippers.

The league has known about Sterling for years. Yet players and coaches still took his money.
