Had just put my quiver back on the bow (Recurve), tied my pull up rope to my bow, and was ready to climb down. (Back facing the area deer usually show up) That's when I hear the "crunch, crunch, crunch" we all know and love. Dangit!! They were at 12yds before I could move. I carefully pulled an arrow out of my quiver while my back is to them. I ease my head around and there is a huge mature doe. I ease my bow off the hook and hear the familiar tap, tap, tap of a deer's hoof tapping the ground. I am like, "she has me". Dangit!! Well, I have a choice. Either try to "get-r-done" or wait till they move away. Duh!!! My season has been so slow I just had to try it. I started turning around on my stand at about 3 nano inches per hour, easy, easy, almost facing them, ----- BAM!! They are out!!! Blowing like crazy. White flags blazing. CRAAPPPPPP!!!!! I decide to blow back at them and try to calm them with some fawn bleats. They never completely vacated. They were still blowing at me at about 50 and 75yds respectfully. Oh well. Another time. Another time. End of rant.
Had that happen a few times this year with that big buck I was chasing. Just as I was going to get down I'd hear crunches In the leaves. Twice It was him, but It was to dark to shoot. Hang In there Bobby!! Can't wait for the recurve to get It done!!!
