The best player on my wife's bball team is an ACC signee. Her dad flipped his lid when my wife and the hs would not hold some big press conference type thing at the school when she signed. She has an outside shot at 2,000 pts for her career and the school would not go all out on a press conference. I commended them for not falling into that bs. And to top it all off, the player is wonderful....the dad on the other hand. What a horrible trend.......the national signing day press conference who has the biggest d crap.
By Marc F. Pendleton Staff Writer HUBER HEIGHTS — Reon Dawson a “Michigan Man?” Say what? “I never did see that,” said the Trotwood-Madison High School senior cornerback who “flipped” from a verbal commitment to Illinois to eventually sign with Michigan on Wednesday. “Until I die, I’m gonna be a Buckeye fan even though I’m going (to Michigan). When we play (OSU) I’m gonna still bring my ‘A’ game. But, I love Ohio State.”
I have mixed feelings about signing day announcements. Using Isiah Crowell (the dude pictured) is a bad example. Because he's an idiot, and got kicked off the team at UGA. On one hand, I find it extremely narcissitic and selfish to withhold your commitment from a coach and university until the very last day just so you can be on TV. This usually only happens with highly rated players, and most of the time they know long before NSD where they are going to go, they just want the hoopla. Then on the other hand, being recruited by major college football programs is a HUGE part of these kid's lives, and something they'll never get to experience ever again. A lot of them grew up having nothing, so who are we to criticize them for simply enjoying the recruiting process? They're kids, after all, let them have a little bit of fun. Having a press conference at your school in front of your friends and family on national TV would be pretty cool I'd think.
Me too! I'm not going to agrue with you, T.... but since your media outlets are obviously either biased or not functioning properly, here are some unbiased, national perspectives: http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2013 http://rivals.yahoo.com/ohiostate/football/recruiting/teamrank/2013/all/all http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/recruiting
