Thinking about a new broadhead for next year, wondering if anyone has opinions on the NAP Hellrazor. Are they as hard as they claim? I shot the G5 Montechs and the end would roll over when going through bone, not impressed. Then I changed to the G5 T3's and they are the worst broadhead design I've ever used. Want to go back to a good fixed blade. Thanks, Paul

The Nap Nightmares look like a better choice. I wonder how durable the tip and blades would be on the Hellrazor punching through bone a couple times, thats one draw back to a one piece.

NAP doesn't make the Nightmare anymore so you're out of luck there. The closest thing to it is the Thunderhead Edge, which is a great fixed-blade head. The offset blade design leaves a "channel" when it passes through the animal so it creates better blood trails.

I shot Hellrazors for a year and they're tough, no doubt. But I don't think you'll find a three blade cut-to-point head that won't roll or burr at least a little if it directly impacts a bone. The only way to make a head that tough would also make it virtually impossible to resharpen.

i shoot the NAP bloodrunners. i know they r mechanical but if it fails to open up u still get the fixed blade cut. if open they cut 2 1/16". and an 1 1/4" unopened i believe.

or you could take a look at the montec CS, cardon steel. they are supposed to be more durable.

My dad shot the montec CS this year, never used one on anything, but they rusted even in the quiver from one hunt out in the rain, i wouldn't recommend them.

The carbon isn't going to stop the end from rolling over on impact but it does make them take a better edge than stainless. The way to avoid the corrosion is to coat them with a light oil or gel like Vaseline.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I'm going to try the thunderhead next season. Another question, if you coat your heads with a light oil or vaseline to stop rust would this increase the chance of infection if a deer takes a marginal hit? Just a thought

With a marginal hit the deer will have more to worry about than a little oil or vaseline.
