I have had my rest since last summer, and love it! But the black felt that makes it so quiet has worn off and I need to get it replaced. Could I just send it in and the company will replace it? I tried to put some camo tape on it and it wasnt as effective.
Make sure before you put the camo tape on it, use alcohol and really clean the surface. If you don't it will not stick.
I use stuff I believe is called mole skin. Its sticky backed camo felt comes in a 3x5" piece and just a few $. Itll last you awhile
I work for NAP. First thing ... where is the black felt worn? in the center of the launcher where the arrow shaft sits while at full draw? ... or are you getting "wear" on the outter tips/prongs of the launcher arm? Only reason I ask is that you shouldn't be getting any "wear" on the felt out on those outer "prongs"/tips of the launcher. If you are, it's likely you're getting fletching contact! I experienced that myself last year before finally getting my rig tuned "just right". If you're just shooting so much that the felt is wearing from friction from the arrow shaft itself in the center groove/V of the launcher—then it's just excessive "wear and tear" from a lot of shooting. Either way, PM me your mailing address and I'll get some replacement/pre-cut felt sent to you so you can get some "fresh" felt on the launcher. As stated above, you'll want to clean the old adhesive residue off the launcher as best you can before installing the new felt.
Call NAP I also have the Apache rest and absolutely love it. Once I got used to the idea that it does not cock in an upward position, came to trully appreciate the simplicity and reliability of this rest. I have shot it a ton without any problems and it groups fantastically. I was worried that the felt would wear out in the middle of the season and called NAP to find out where I could buy pre-cut replacement felt. Customer service told me that it is not sold separately, but rather asked my name and address and told me FREE replacement felt is being mailed to me. UNBELIEVABLE customer service. I will buy NAP products every chance I get.
I am also interested in reading an answer to Treestandsniper's question as I am having a very similar problem. I have alreade worn through both the felts that came with my rest as well as several moleskin pieces I cut out myself (they don't last nearly as long as the originals) I have tried lengthening and shortening the cord as well as moving my nocking point. I can't seem to get rid of the contact. If I shoot with the cock vane down, I no longer get contact on the sides, but the cock vane contacts the center of the rest. I would really like to know what else I can try
First, I would have your rest re-tied and re-timed. 1/2" before the end of your draw cycle is far too late. Usually you want them to be fully erect in the last 2". Second, I would check for cam lean, check for center shot, then paper tune. A contact issue is more than likely the bow tune, or you.
+1 to this, I set 'em up with the cord in my down cable, without it being served, and tune them to what seems like it works using a clamp, then have them served in. Checking for contact issues, is the one and ONLY time I think a man has any business using lipstick, but you can also use a light coat of eye-black on the bottom side of fletches to check and see if you are having contact, but using the wife's lipstick is just more fun because it "irks" her.... :D
