bz, this is my second year with the apache and I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I'm going to head out in a few hours and tune my rest with some bloodrunners. One thing that I have seen with this rest is slight fletching contact with the left prong, I'm not sure why, but it's always been a quick fix to shoot the cock vane out or just slightly lower than "out."

And to each their own, but I put zero faith whatsoever in paper tuning. In fact I have had bow/rest combinations that simply wouldn't paper tune, but you could throw any fixed blade head on an arrow and they would all group. I'm personally more concerned with how my arrow performs down range than at a couple feet.

My tuning routine is pretty much always the same... I walk back tune and broadhead tune. At times I've done bareshaft tuning as well, but I shoot bareshafts and much as I shoot paper... never.

Use the walk back tune for windage and then when you broadhead tune you should only have to make minor adjustments left or right. IMO, its the simplest and most effective tuning method for fixed blade shooters.

    Thanks Dubbya.

I still haven't figured this out...but paper tune or not...no adjustments to rest removed the right tear (arrow going left in flight before correcting)...
Not sure why some don't like paper tuning...It just happens to be what I was taught first and have always done with each bow. Logic to me says if my bow is shooting perfect bullet holes at 6-8 feet, 5yds, and 10yds...then my arrow has to be maximizing all the power it can from my bow by wasting none to stabilize itself??? I've always been able to get a bow paper tuned with one rest or another. Obviously any method of getting fixed blades to group at all ranges can be effective - it just seems as though paper tuning would maximize arrow energy retention?

And in each case - the paper tuned bow groups my field points and bh at all ranges (effectively same as bh tuning).

really stumped on this one...I know NAP makes nothing but quality gear and in my mind is the one Stand Out company since I started archery 18 years ago - really hoped it would work - but think I will be swapping it for something else...as confidence is now lost. I'll still say the Apache is as bullet-proof as you'll get in a drop away, and is the quietest I have seen in action.

Thanks for all the replies...was hoping I was just missing something - I'm lost on this one.

    Matt,
I'm on the same side as Dubbya as far as paper-tuning, I don't mess with it, I eyeball everything, zero a pin, do a walkback to center the rest, and then go to BH tuning, but I still think the issue may very likely be the launcher, especially if you're not getting any fletching contact... Offer's still open on a rest if you want to try something a little different.... Let me know, all it'd cost you is the few dollars in shipping to send it back after trying it out...
