I sure hope I don't shoot the biggest buck of my life this year, I'm too young for a buck to never be topped! I will say that I have had the best velvet trail camera year I have ever had, along with the most mature bucks I've ever seen this early on my property. Plenty of big brow tines and wide bucks, which get me all anxious. As for my target buck for the year, he isn't the largest buck we have running around or seen, but he is in the making to be one beautiful deer! Good luck this season guys!

If I shoot the biggest buck of my life, it's mostly just going to be luck. I took a new job at work that has me working longer hours and getting off an hour and a half later than in the past. I am the least prepared I have ever been for deer season. I didn't get any plots in and my usual plots are overgrown with 8 foot tall giant ragweed. I've been on a pretty solid streak and I just hope I can keep it going this year. I'm just looking for a good mature buck and if he happens to be the biggest to date, well I'll take it but I'm not getting greedy.

Because I haven't killed a buck with my bow yet.

I am all for QDM but going 3 years without letting an arrow fly on a deer is getting tough on a guy.

I probably won't kill the biggest buck of my life this year. I just want to kill a deer at this point, I've been skunked for the past 4 years. I'm going to shoot the first doe to walk into a shooting lane within range that's not on high alert and or the first buck that walks into a shooting lane within range that's not on high alert that has 6 points or more. I'm hungry.

I learned so much from the mistakes I made last year. Adjacent landowner says he sees him walking the edge of the creek a lot. I did some scouting and found some serious rubs along the creek. Where he crosses the creek, I found a tree just off the creek 15 yards away. He moves most on an ESE wind. Where my new stand is located, I can see him coming from 3 different directions along the creek. The wind that is in his favor, means he has to walk past me to wind me. Game On!!

Because I don't give a crap anymore, I had goals for years and hunting became not as fun as it once was. Sure I want to kill the biggest buck of my life but when a deer presents it self and it feels right it's going to get it. Having fun is what I'm aiming for.

I'm not holding out to break my biggest, I have a goal this season to break into the 700 inch club (top 5 bucks total score breaking 700") so I'll continue shooting any buck that would be in my top 5. I do have my eye on a buck on public that last year would have scored close to 180 I believe, I know 3 of his beds and will hunt them but I'm not going for broke chasing him. Just want to keep learning and improving, keeping the hunt fun!

November 4th through the 13th. That is when I will be on my rutcation.

I have seen what I am after at least every other year, but have yet to properly execute. Shot below one on a 12 yd. misjudged shot, he was elevated and 12 yds further than I aimed. Others I let patience and pessimism get the better of me and settled for less not knowing what might have been.

This is a new year, new attitude and new approach.

Big clean 10 is all I am after, and have been after. Random google pic of a not so uncommon size and make up where I hunt.

(Haven't checked cameras, so pics will have to wait.)

I will kill the biggest buck of my life because I finally understand what it takes. I'll be hunting in Ohio and hopefully Nebraska, two states that have better quality and less pressure.

    Location, location, location.

A lesser obvious reason - I will move my stand when activity says to, not stay in a tree that's 50 yards away because I don't feel like moving it.
