My son and I got out this morning for the first time this spring to do some shooting with his Martin Tiger bow. It has been about 6 months since he last shot due to the weather. I immediately noticed his focus and strength was much improved from last fall. At that time he struggled a little bit to find the coordination to pull the bow back, aim and pull the trigger. Now he has 7-8 out of 10 good shots. He also has matured greatly in terms of listening to me and his attention span. He seems to care about shooting now instead of just flinging arrows. I am one proud dad. Getting ready: Squeeze that trigger: A funny but cool after shot. Notice the Jordan look. The string is still oscillating. The final result:
I was out killing game at that age and i hope my two children will have the same passion for the outdoors as me and my father. Its great to see kids out learning a discipline and all these lead to good morals and ethical reasoning.
That is awesome and when I saw the pic with the tongue I thought of Jordan and then In read the post...
BRAVO ZULU! Can you be any prouder than the moment they told you it's a Boy! Can't wait till you post his first hunt. Congratulations!
Awesome Brad! We're getting Wyatt his first actual compound this summer. Going to be a blast shooting with him.
Don't know for sure. Maybe a Genesis Mini. The only thing is, I would like him to start shooting a bow that is set up like something he will shoot for years. I.E. Set draw lengths, let off, etc. I'll be visiting my buddy who owns an archery shop here in town to do some research.
Yeah, finding lefty stuff (bow, baseball glove, golf clubs) for him at such a young age is a challenge. I'm not sure where he got it from because nobody in either my wife's or my family is a lefty.
No problem. The Martin Tiger I have is still a kids bow. Don't get me wrong it sends those arrows flying pretty good. But I think Dan is in a different market than than this bow is in.
Yeah my son is 4, will be 5 in October. He has a little bow that shoots arrows with suction cups on the end, but I was looking into getting something a little more 'real' this summer.
I recommend the bow we have. I think Dan's son is a bit older but don't quote me on it. This bow shoots blunt tip wood arrows. Just plan on getting him a release and put some string nocks on. My son had trouble using fingers at first and using a release helped out a lot. Here are some good videos for you to watch on this bow. Will do. I do know that last spring when I had my son at the shop Will was trying to talk me into getting Wyatt a Diamone Nuclear Ice. He said he had 5 other kids Wyatt's age shooting them. At the time, Wyatt had just turned 4 that January and I felt he wasn't ready for it yet. He's grown a lot since then and I think is ready to shoot one. 4-6 months ago I probably would not have said that.
