I wanted to first give thanks to Andy Simo (President/Founder) and Bob Mizek(Director of engineering) from New Archery Products(nap) for the tour of there plant yesterday and for providing all of us with high quality archery products that are made in the USA since 1971. Their plant here in Illinois is top of the line and very clean. I was very impressed with the pride and quality that goes into all their designs and manufacturing processes. I have been building ,designing and repairing industrial machinery for a living for 23 years so I do know quality made products when I see them. They use the Diamized process for sharpening there blades which makes a scalpel sharp blade. I viewed there blade compared to a competitor model at 400x magnification and you could clearly see the edge of the competitors blade looked like a saw with big grinding gouges and burrs and the nap blade was near perfectly straight with no burrs. Andy and Bob are two of the nicest and highly knowledgeable guys you could meet. I was amazed at their knowledge of Ancient bows and ancient shooting styles among everything else they know about archery. The engineers at NAP come from strong aerospace backgrounds so you know they can build things that are strong ,fly good ,fast and straight. I have checked out their new 2009 Bloodrunner broadheads and I must say those heads are awesome. They have addressed all blade issues they had with the early released heads. The newly designed blades are built like a truss providing unbelievable strength. I was given a set to evaluate so I will be posting my unbiased results in the near future. I also had a chance to check out their new QiuckTune Freedom rest for 2009. This rest is a definite must have for 2009.It is a full capture/drop away style rest that does not connect to your bow in any other way than the mounting screw(no cords or mechanisms). This rest holds your arrow securely on the rest and allows you to draw back and let down without the rest dropping away. When you release the arrow(Normal shot)the rest automatically drops away. The 2009 QuickTune Freedom rest is definitely going to start a new trend in how arrow rests are designed. I had the privilege to check out a new prototype broadhead design they will be coming out with in the future. I am sworn to secrecy about them but I can say they are going to be some of the deadliest and most innovative broadheads to hit the market in years. I have been a NAP product user for years and after going to the plant and seeing the quality that goes in their products I will always be a loyal customer. If you have any questions about there products give them a call they actually want to hear from you not like a lot of other companies out there. Here is a link to the NAP website.

Pretty cool post. I've always been a fan of NAP ever since I started using thunderheads a long time ago. IMO they are made so well I have no need to use any other head.

    Thanks for sharing.

It is always neat to take tours of manufacturing plants. I was able to tour the John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, IL. It was sweet, my dad got to start our combine for the first time right on the assembly line. Some of the presses in that factory require you to have both hands and feet touching buttons before it works. Needless to say, they were massive and pounding out some crazy stuff out of sheet metal.

Pretty neat they let you see the new prototype broadheads and such.

Kevin - glad to hear your trip turned out well. The guys are NAP are all first-class and it's been and extreme pleasure of ours to know them and do business with them for many years. I have been to their facility many times and am always amazed at how clean it is, and how well run things are. A top notch company, no doubt! :tu:

Dearest Peakrut, this is a grand opportunity for you to visit your nearest pro-shop to help stimulate the economy. Your local pro-shop will take the time to set you up and dial you in right for a small one time setup fee. Hopefully the money you saved by buying a new bow at a highly discounted cost will enable you to buy a few cool new accessories as well which will help out the local pro-shop. One day we Hoyt guys hope to see you back, until then we have elected to accept Dylan Fraley in your place. Dylan will receive free setup through Mechdoc on his hand me down Hoyt bow as a sign of our appreciation for him joining the gang.

While I see that saving a ton of money is important in today's economy, I would never turn my back on my Hoyt brothers to save a buck for a bow I previously had no interest in. I also trust that you could have bought a gently used Hoyt Vulcan from one of our forum members for a price similar to what the Limbsaver cost you. This would be like me shopping at Walmart for God's sake. I can only hope that the party you purchased your bow from will utilize the money you paid to buy a Hoyt Alphamax since you deviated from the directive.

While we will remain friends I still feel like I lost a brother.

    Yours Truly

Homie (more frequently, homey), is a contraction of the American slang word "homeboy" which became prevalent among some of the youth in the African American communities starting in the late 1960's and continuing up to the present, particularly in the hip hop subculture.
Another common contraction of the word homeboy is homes (sometimes "holmes").

An interesting historic musical footnote is the use of the word "homie" by Ella Mae Morse in the original hit version of the classic song "House of Blue Lights" in 1946. At the beginning of the song she says, "what's that homie?" to Freddie (Freddie Slack, the writer of the song). Ella Mae Morse was white.

In the hip hop subculture the homeboy image is huge for artists and audiences. They always need to appear "hip" and "fresh" with their attitudes, clothing, and jewelry. The inspiration for this homeboy image can be easily traced to Malcolm X, who also rebelled against a tradition perceived as ineffectual. It has been argued that hip-hop has redefined the homeboy by providing him with functions that contradict society's view of him. Manthia Diawara, author of "Homeboy Cosmopolitan", writes, "Hip-hop culture gives aesthetic pleasure through ironic and parodic play with mainstream images of black people". Diawara argues that hip-hop permits the creation of a new image of black cultures, because it sharply turns against preconceived notions of African-American society and allows for the creation of a new image of black Americans. This image of staying hip is always evolving with new dress styles and sayings. The referenced website gives ten ways to stay hip every week, they change drastically week to week.

In 1992 a Latino rap hip hop group released "Homies" on their "Hip Hop Locos" album. The music lyrics best describe what a "Homie" is in the Latino community. The "hip and fresh" image is less important than the relationship between each other or groups of friends. The status of "Homie" is considered as "My best friend." or "Someone I can trust.". As in, "This is my Homie Dark Alex, we've known each other since grade school." Or, "I won't be around this afternoon. But, you can give the money to my Homie James. He'll give it to me later when I see him."

    You got it M&M?

The term precedes HIP HOP, did you even read your googled response? Homie is a friend or buddy and doesn't signify a particular race or creed, there are little action figures called Homies and they are all Latino.
Here is a term you must study my friend, all us Hoyt guys already know the meaning as it relates to you and your new bow.

"Selling out" refers to the compromising of one's integrity, morality and principles in exchange for money, 'success' (however defined) or other personal gain. It is commonly associated with attempts to increase mass appeal or acceptability to mainstream society. A person who does this, as opposed to continuing along his or her original path, is labelled a sellout and typically regarded with disgust and immediate loss of respect. Selling out is often seen as gaining success at the cost of credibility.:busted:
