Well I'll be going to Quantico Marine Base tomorrow morning to try yet again for a gobbler. The weather report isn't too great, cloudy over night, possibility of shower during the day, high of 50°.

I was hoping to use the Lazy Lounger so I could run & gun.

But it looks as if it'll be a morning in the blind.

I'll be carrying the Bear Custom TD and cedar arrows w/ Bear greenies.

I bought one of the new Cherokee Sports inflatable decoys to add to the others I have. The head is molded from a real freeze dried turkey head. and it looks REAL too!

I might bring the camcorder but if I don't I'll still have the cell phone for some video.

I'll let y'all know what happens. I'm going to take some practice shots from the blind now.

Sounds like a plan!! Good hunting.

Our season opens 1 week from today but I won't get to go until the following week-end.

Well I'm back. I didn't take the camcorder out because it was raining so hard it sounded like a cow peeing on a flat rock.

On my way walking in I had a very cool thing happen. My flashlight caught a set of eyes from a deer in the field. So I kept walking toward them and where I was gonna set up. The deer kept standing there looking at me, the proverbial "deer in the headlights". I walked to within 25 yards and was given a perfect broadside view while it just stood there. All I could do was laugh and think, yup deer season must be over! As I walked on there were three more deer standing in the field just watching me as I passed by them to my spot.

I did take some video with my cell phone but on some of it I inadvertently had my finger over the microphone...sorry.

At one point I was cold and wet which made me have to pee real bad. As I got out of the blind and look toward the wood line I saw two turkeys leaving for the next county. Well that's how my luck goes! I'll try again next Tuesday.

    Here's the videos:

    BHF,
the decoys are really good. They are inflatable which gives them a nice full look with no flat spots or creases. The finish on them is very real, but the head is the most inpressive. The box carries a warning that states:

WARNING: HUNT WITH CAUTION, THIS PRODUCT IS EXTREMELY REALISTIC.

I don't feel this is just an advertising ploy.

Pretty neat!! I enjoyed seeing that.

It never fails, as soon as you stand up or step out of the blind... that's when you see them.. right after they see you

Well I tried again this Tuesday. There wasn't much of a choice of areas to go to so I just picked one, I didn't hear the first bird. When I got back to the game check station there were three birds in the shed. They were taken by Marines in the Wounded Warriors program. There are special areas that the commanding General has set aside for special hunts such as these that are very productive.
