Saturday was our opening day here in pa. I have a ton of pictures of one buck that was at the top of the list. Mid 140's type deer. Great buck for this area. Looked to be around 4.5 years old. Found out saturday that a friend of mine on the neighboring property put him down at 5 pm opening day. After passing on a 130+ inch buck right at first light then hearing this news im kicking my self in the arse lol hopefully my #2 gives me a shot

Sorry to hear that. It's the way it goes though. Hopefully number two will come by and give you a shot.

Were you able to stop by your neighbors and see it?

Passing a 130+ in PA? Gutsy. With that many high caliber deer, hopefully you get redemption.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4.

It's a wild animal. It sucks but it happens.

Bring a six pack to your friend and congratulate him on a great buck.

Between my two properties, I have 4 deer regularly on camera at or over the 130" mark. In reality, im happy for my neighbor. He is a buddy of mine that I have known for years. I know how much work he puts in in the off season (like myself) and he deserves this buck on his wall. I stopped over that night to have a look and boy, what a buck.

Its not gutsy. Its just a willingness to go possibly years in between buck. My last 2 deer were a 132" ten in 2008 and a 139" 8 that I shot in 2012.

This is one of my worst fears, but that's why you always have a number 2 and 3, hope your back up gives you a wack at them

Congrats to your friend! You should be happy for him assuming he took it legally.

Congrats. Still a rarity in PA. Even much more of a trophy, then. We manage well, but will never see deer that score that high consistently.

It can be hit or miss here as well. Last year we didnt see one deer on the property over 100 inches. This year we had 2 on each property (4 in total) that are at least 130. The thing that helps is the neighboring land, connected to the property this buck fell on is 4000 acres owned by one lady that only lets her 3 sons hunt it. My other property is 410 acres surrounded by 3600 acres of corn that is strictly NO HUNTING.
