You guys convinced me, I'm switching to Magnus. lol

So let's get this straight, are people upset with how the Rage performs, or how the head is marketed? Two very different subjects. McDonalds is shoved down my throat every time I turn on the TV, to the point I can't even stand to see golden arches....doesn't keep them from serving a damned tasty hamburger.

As for minimums, it doesn't pertain to me so I dont really care. I don't go for minimums with my setup, so its a mute point for me to guess at it as everyone else may try. I shoot 500 grain arrows and was pushing 79 ft lbs of KE last time I did the calcumalations. Plenty enough to push a Rage through the deer and deep into the dirt as experience has proven every time I dropped the string.

Rickmur, I wasn't saying you were looking for a cop out.... Crap happens and to everyone at that. But on the other hand, you DID start a thread about the brand of broadhead and how bad they are because of what happened, not on how what happened went wrong.

ok my first time bowhunting,i have never seen or shot a deer while hunting until this sat. i was in a groundblind.wind in my face. my first deer walks in. a buck! with 5 inch antlers,a yearling buck. 20 yard broadside shot. hit the deer good. no blood not even a drop, the blades dident open! found arrow 30 yards away with blood 7 inches up the arrow and the o ring missing. this broad head cost me my first deer! I went and got some muzzy fixed blade mx-3s 100 grain. lets see how they do. and i dident flub the shot it was a perfect shot and i dident get a passthrough. i shoot a browning cable bow its old but its absolutly a tack driver!

If the o ring came off, how did the blades not open?

Sounds as though the 1st expierence wasn't a good one either. Why did you try these heads again?

Your a good guy Trev so don't take this wrong. I checked out your pic you posted In this thread, do you honestly think your going to blow through shoulder blades every time using these mechs?

A person can make post's about trail cams not performing well but they can't for broadheads? People have made threads about their fixed heads breaking with pictures backing It up. Nothing In the least wrong with that, It can happen. The old mighty Rage gets a thread made and a few take It personal. I've swore up and down for years that the 1 1/4 cutting diameter 3 blade Snuffer Is an awesome head!! I still stand by that! Not too often but here and there I've read some not so good reviews on them. Do I get bent out of shape about It? Hell no. I take what I hear and learn from It. Anything Is possible.

Lol!! Yet have I saw a productive post from you In this thread. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though on not knowing many people In this forum. Rick to me has his stuff together and Is NOT looking for a cop out. 45 years of bowhunting, I think he knows that one needs to practice. I'd put lots of cash down that the lack of practicing Isn't the Issue here. What Is the Issue? I'd really like to know too as would Rick.

I've only been shooting these heads for a few weeks or so BUT I don't see how the blades could NOT deploy. Not calling anyone a liar but I just don't see it. I know crazier stuff has happened but it just seems darn near impossible. With that said, the only thing that worries me is the wasted KE. The KE they "eat up" while entering the deer is my biggest concern and thats only if I hit where I shouldn't have (i.e. shoulder blade).

From reading this I also believe that your Bow was likely the problem. You mentioned it being an older Browning cable Bow. Those Bows were around way before most mechanical broadheads and im sure dont put out much KE either. I used to have one years ago, a Browning accelerator, it shined like a diamond in a Goats @ss but didnt even compare to the performance of today Bows.

Rick, bothha hope you dont take offence to some of these post, no pun intended from me. Im going to bring up a scnerao that happened to me years ago with a fixed blade Thunderhead. (and im not picking on fixed blades either) I have shot many and have no gripes with them. I shot a Buck perfectly broadside at 20 yards years ago, the arrow hit where I wanted but after impact, and it did not pass through, it was pointing back toward the rear of the buck as he ran off  I was plenty back from the shoulder so all I can think of is it hit rib and deflected back missing the lungs. Things happen sometimes that we dont have control of. Not sure in your case but non the less something happened.

I really can't believe how many people are against the most devastating heads ever produced. GMMAT said something about shooting enough KE for these heads and I TOTALLY agree with that.

But how could you not like these heads ? GUARANTEED field point accuracy. 2" cut from a rear deploying blade. I've seen people use the same head on multiple deer.

You can literally sight in with field points and then go out hunting with total confidence that the heads will hit where you are aiming.
