I've been wanting to build a shed ever since we bought the new house. Well, I finally go it done a couple weeks ago and I'm very happy with it especially since it was my first project of this magnitude. The building was initially gonna be 12 x 20 but the county was giving me a hard time about WSPs and crap I had no clue about. Its a storage shed and I can guarantee its not going anywhere but try telling them that. I should have never went there to apply for the permit....I now know for next time. I ended up building a 10 x 15 which is the maximum I could build without a permit (150 sq ft). Anyway, here it is. BTW....there was a garden in this spot last summer. I tore the fence down and built it on the garden space. I did everything by myself but setting the two long walls up. Needed help doing that. Other than that, my only other helpers were some Irwin quick clamps.
Nice work. We are building this spring. Shortly after the house, I will be working on a cool man shed/pole barn. 24X36.
Thanks Ben! Be sure to take progress pics. Matt...That is the LP smart siding. I hesitated a bit before buying because I had read a few places where they had some major issues with this stuff several years ago with rotting, etc. Since then, they've gotten it all worked out.
Thanks Siman. Ben...it basically just an OSB siding. Its treated to prevent termite and fungal decay damage. Here's a link to a brief overview of the product. I think it will stand the test of time as long as I hold up my end of the deal. http://www.lpcorp.com/LP_Products/W...se_LP_SmartSide_Instead_Of_Traditional_Wood_/
Yeah, I read the same things, but it seemed a lot of the issues were corrected and/or preventable during installation. I sided the exterior face of my basement entrance with it, and have been happy so far.Ben, it's basically OSB with a synthetic coating with a wood texture and grooves to give it the appearance of wood paneling.. The panels come in standard 4x8 sheets and lap together to form seamless transitions. It's also fully primed and ready to paint if you wish. It's nice because to can put the sheathing up and it's also the exterior surface. Kills two birds with one stone.
Lol...yep. :D I really liked the fact it was pre-primed. Traditional T1-11 really soaks up the paint.
Thanks guys! I did forget to mention that I've wired the inside since I took these pics. Just need to run some wire from the house to the building. I can see this being a good place to work up some deer.
You got some skills! Looks great and it matches your house BTW, that is a very nice place you've got there
All you need now is to build a ramp so you can drive lawnmowers or whatever inside. LOL Yup, code laws suck at times. Here I think it can't be over 12x12 without a permit. If there aren't footers beyond that, you have to build a pole barn type structure. In my haste to get construction closed in before winter struck, I didn't do what I wanted as far as garages. Now I wish I had taken the chance and build a couple extra stalls. I need room but it's tough without cutting a bunch of trees and making another road. I don't need it that bad. Unfortunately, the best place for another structure is where my leech field is. BUMMER. I'm not cutting trees, so I'll just continue to be crowded and rotate crap with the seasons. LOL
