Yeah super thick with lots and lots of thorn bushes and trees. It makes it fun to trim lanes also good cover so they don't see you until they're in your lane.
Looks nice. So many mosquitos now hopefully we get cool weather early. My area is thick too and I have a hard time preventing myself from trimming too much cause I want to open it up but realize I need to be hidden also lol.
The biggest opening is where I put my plot. I feel naked compared to the new spot. If I had a pole saw I would cut that branch at the top of the third picture.
Almost. I've got to move my stand up to about 20' even though I'm not completely comfortable doing it with out a hss lifeline.
Pole saws are great I couldn't get by without one. Home Depot has one I think I got the Fiskars 14 ft for $40 I like it a lot.
There really isn't any unless I do some serious trimming. I would have to cut down a medium size tree pretty much. Alot of the trees in that spot are dead, dying or small. I could go back and look when I get my trail cam. I don't plan on hunting it often since my friend put his stand about 50 yards away from my spot and it was hit or miss there last season. I'm almost positive I found a spot that's 10x better anyway.
Imperial bowstand. I'm not sure what's in it but I won a gift certificate and it was free. So if it doesn't grow I won't care.
I will but when I get it hung I don't feel comfortable climbing the ladder, getting into the stand and then putting strap around the tree for my harness. I would like to be connected to the tree the whole way up because I'm a chicken when it comes to heights.
Oh I agree you should be strapped in the whole time. I thought you said you were going to move your stand up to 20 feet without a lifeline (post #8) so I was thinking of a way you could move it safely without paying the $40 for one if money was tight. I misread what you wrote. You could still use a climbing belt you would just need 2 I think for getting up into the stand from off the steps in order to be strapped in the whole time. That would cost the same as a lifeline though.
I have a rope that I bought to save money on a climbing belt. I may just use that when I get near the top. I'm good until I hop in the stand being on that tiny platform up 18.5'.
The cattle finally moved so now I got my last stand up. I still need to cut two branches. The pictures go from left to right.
It looks a lot worse in person but some day the loggers will be back to clean their mess. It's hard to walk through there and I figured the deer will use the trails the cattle made when they leave in November. I found some deer sign in the area already so it should be a decent travel area once the cows are gone for good this season. You can't see it but there's a little water hole to my right the deer might use.
