Dalton finally took down a Buck, He has hunted his butt off this season and was holding out for a Big boy this season but had some tough luck. He got his chance several weeks ago and I was sitting directly behind his shoulder. We were on the ground sitting on a knob 50 yards behind my stand where I killed Fang last year. He was weilding a shotgun with scope and a 135-140" 10 point was 10 yards from my stand. It was getting away from us so Dalton took the only shot he had at the last minute before loosing sight of him. He Looked as if he was going down and hit hard and stopped on a hill 30 yards in front of us, I was saying shoot again but the gun jammed on the spent shell and a second shot was not taken. We left and came back 6 hours later because we were not sure of the shot. No blood, no hair and after an agaonzing grid search, nothing!! A week later he now had his ML. This time I was in my stand looking for a Doe and Dalton was on the same knob behind me. This time 2 Bucks were chasing a Doe, one was decent about 110" and as soon as he shot I seen nothing but tails up and graceful leaps from the Buck. I came back next morning while he was in school and again after a couple hours search, nothing Dalton is usually a Dead eye with the guns, guess Buck feaver got the best of him. Finally last Friday with 1 Day left in the ML season he text me with 8 point down. He was again on the same knob and this guy came in above him at 10 yards and down the hill. He let him get in the flat below and out 25 yards before he shot him. He went 20 yards and piled up. Dalton said with just one day left he decided to shoot this one. Not what he was looking for but he said it will do for so late in the season. looks to be a 2.5 and he was rutted down in the weight department. Im proud of the Boy
