My son Chris scored his first archery deer tonight! He was hunting a stand we set about a week ago, on an oak ridge near an old pond on our property. We had gotten pictures of this 8 pointer on a trail camera about 2 weeks ago. He said then he would really like a shot at this buck........and this evening, he did just that! He came over the ridge, and down on the edge of the old pond, and he nailed him with a broadside shot at about 25 yards. The killzone knocked him down initially, and he got back on his feet, and made it about 40 yards before he piled up for good. Chris shoots a Bear Anarchy, using ICS Bowhunter arrows, and a 100 grain NAP Killzone broadhead. I must say, the Killzone did a number on this buck. Flat put him down, quickly and humanely......just like we hope for on every shot. When my phone rang, and I saw it was my son, and I all I heard was panting when I answered it, I knew he shot SOMETHING. All he could say was........."I got that 8 pointer down........I'm standing here looking at him". He must have said that 3 or 4 times.........I laughed, told him great job, I'm on my way out to help you get him. I'm proud that he took his time, made a great shot, and scored a very nice deer for his first ever archery deer. I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow morning!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Even though I didn't harvest this one..........I'm gonna have a hard time getting to sleep tonight! My son's first archery deer...........and the Cardinals are leading in game #3. Pretty damn good day for a proud papa!
Awesome. Congrats to you both. I recently had one of my sons get his first bow kill. I was more pumped about it than my own first kill.
completely jealous man! im fifteen and ive shot two does and a hog with my pse stinger. hopefully i can lay it down on a great buck like you have. congrats.
Thanks guys, Im 29 and have been bowhunting for 3 years and this is the first deer Ive taken with my bow, I shot a decent buck with my shotgun last season, but this buck with my bow was the best rush I have ever had in my life. He is at the taxi right now, Im putting him on the wall.
