I have a new property to hunt this year and really wasn't expecting much. Had a few forks and does show up until this guy walked by! These are the only 2 pics I got of him but if he showed up once, there's a chance he'll show up again. I'm not holding my breath but at least I've got hope! And you don't see many with a drop where I'm from either so he'd be pretty special to harvest.
He is a beauty! Let's just hope you'll get a shot at him this season! Fingers crossed Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Nice. Looks like he has a little drop on the right side. Good luck with him! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Black Tail / Mule Deer mix I think to be specific. CA fish and game has a cut line where State Hwy 99 runs north and south. West of HWY 99 is considered pure black tail and east of it is considered a mix. It's kinda dumb really because the deer near me (mid state) are about 99% black tail. The antlers don't get as big and the body size is about 1/2. If you kill a 150lb buck around here, he's a big body deer. To my knowledge the only reason for the separation is for book purposes. A line had to be drawn somewhere for record book classification. I'm on the east side so he's considered a mix. Pure black tails book at 130 or better and I know he's above that; gross anyway depending on mass. Gross score for this guy is right around 140 I'd say. I don't care about the book stuff much but he's a booner for my neck of the woods for sure! Probably more info that you wanted but I'm at work bored. :-)
