Picked it up this morning at my local archery shop. First two shots were inside at close range to see how it felt. Then moved outside to get it sighted in. The archery tech took the first two shots at 20 yards just to make sure it wasn't too far off. I was impressed right away at the speed, I had a hard time following the bolt. Then I shot about a dozen to finish getting it sighted in and get a better feel. I have had two ten points in the past and was planning on getting a 3rd but when these hit the market I knew I had to try it out. The R 9 is a little faster and cheaper than the ten point I was looking at. Now to try some broadheads and hopefully get some late season hunting in.
the twenty or so deer ( give or take) I have taken since I had to go to xbow has killed all these deer as dead as and Ravin at 1/5 the cost,
Congrats! The GF has taken her first X-Bow buck with my R-15 and I'm hoping to fill my doe tag with it. I put a ten point monopod and HHA Crossbow sight on mine.
elaborate on your dislikes about the scope a little bit please, thinking about the R15 after the holidays..........thanks
Exactly what Westfinger said. There is a line starting at 20 yards and every 10 after up to 100. I bought the HHA Optimizer with the SD-VX scope.
My scope has the cross hairs for 20 yd., one point above that and 3 below. Has worked out good on bag shooting. The $$$ some people shell out for their toys. Good thing fancy and $$$ don't kill the deer.
I am considering getting one, using a friends xcalibur crossbow this season because of a shoulder injury. I'm not sure what I'll be capable of next year, if I cannot shoot compound next year I'll be getting one
