its kinda long but i thought it might be worth sharing. I'll start on friday night. my cousin and i decided to take the oppertunity friday night to go glass some deer on some property we hunt. we got out there kinda later than we really wanted. so we decided to practice up on our stalking skills as well. we start out by walking a ditch line to avoid being seen by anything out there. and we eventualy made it to a spot we had some cover and we looked around and we spot a coyote(first time ever seeing one in the wild) and that was a really neat find. we sit there for ten or so minuets more and i see two little tiny heads next to the femal coyote. SHE HAD PUPS with her. seeing a coyote is cool but one with pups couldnt beat it...or so i thought. but then we decided to try and move to a different spot to get a veiw to see over a ridge that blocks the view to one of my stands. and we really didnt want to scare the coyote so we sneaked for about a half an hour till we got to the spot where we could see. to our surprise the coyote still had no idea where we were. and we cut the distance in half so we were about 50ty yards away. i was pretty excited we pulled that off. cause if we can get by a coyote that is pretty reassuring. then out of nowhere my cousin says:he see's another coyote!!!!. FOUR COYOTES!! in one area at the same time porbably mates. this night kept getting better and better. when we finally see a deer. turns out to be a VERY nice buck about 150ty yards away. he eventually left. the weather started getting bad so we decided to quickly and quietly go get my trail cam(which had 29 photos(most i have ever had) we start walking back when that same buck walks out of a clearing. my chris and i freeze and slowly get in a crouch position in some tall grass. He was bigger than thought. already had brow tines it 3 points on one side and two on the other. sweetest thing tho he had no idea we were there. he even started walking towards us got within twenty yards of us till he finally saw us and bolted back in the woods. this memory will stay in my head for a LONG time! so many firsts i had. the night could not have gone better.
nice job on the stalk... didja take the 'yotes??? on our property yotes and bobcats get taken at first chance every single time...
I wish we didnt have a gun, it wouldve been a very easy shot too. o well maybe this winter we will get then with the dogs.
