We bought a 166 acre farm in MO. It's got 25 acres tillable, the rest is timber, mostly oaks. I rent 20 acres to a farmer who plants beans and corn. I have a 3 acre food plot in the center of the farm and will be opening a 1 acre plot in the middle of the woods. I also have 3 feeders in the woods. I have clover in the 3 acres but may switch to Eagle Seed soybeans this spring. If I do I'll use milorganite to keep the deer off it until it has a chance to grow. Have never used it before but Eagle told me the deer don't like it and will shy away from the field for a while. We'll see. I'll do wheat and clover in the new plot since it doesn't get a lot of sun. We're doing some timber improvement in early summer and will make better deer trails and bedding areas. I'm really having fun with this farm, lots of projects to keep us busy. We built a house on it this winter so I'll be spending a lot of time there. I have an article coming out soon in Bow & Arrow Hunting magazine about how I went about finding this farm (the second we have bought). If you read it and are thinking about buying a place it may offer you some tips. Now I'm waiting for the turkey season and fishing in the small stocked pond we have on the place.
