Just as i expected , right at day break had a 7 pointer walk down the lane towards me and turn in the woods about 100 yards in front of me , to small to shoot anyways , about 40 minutes later 5 doe's come across a bean field and went in at the same spot , I'm sharing this lane with another guy that the farmer knows that has a blind set up about 50 yard on the other side of where there going in so i'm not gonna move my stand , hee's an old timer and a pretty good guy but my stand was there first and it kinda ticked me off when i seen his blind set up two days ago , i got 6 other stands on the property but he wasnt there today so i hunted that stand , so i get down about 9am and stalk torwards my stand near a orchard and kicked up 3 more doe's , i stop and let it cool down for about 1/2 hour , I get within a mile of my orchard stand and run into a fock of Turkeys all out of range , so i stop and wait again and two Coyotes come across out of know where and scatter them out , i finally got close to the stand and i cought movement to my left seen two doe's wagging there tails then a third tail that was the big 10 i had on camera , well within range i draw but it was to thick to to shoot where he was , i let down the doe's spotted me blew and all ran off , i ranged it after they ran off it was 44 yards..........I get in my orchard stand had two doe's walk about 70 yards behind me about two hours later , that was it , gonna get out of here and give it hell again tomorrow .
Thanks Fellas , its usually good the first few weeks , no one tramples through the woods i hunt , basically me and the old fella that hunts a 3500 acre farm and we usually keep our distance , i think he set up where he did because he didnt see my ladder stand , its hid and tucked up under the limbs pretty good .......My first few outings are really for feeling things out and seeing whats going on where i dont have cameras .........Good luck to ya all !!!
Man, that sounds like an awesome day. I hope you get that 10 pointer! If that old man takes it Im gunna come down there and punch him in the hip! Just Kidding.
Good luck fellow Hoosier. My opening day was like an episode of the keystone cops. Blessings......Pastorjim
