Wow what a great buck. I have been bow hunting in VA since 1989 and killed over 40 deer but nothing at all close to that. That was real smart work on the track the way you backed out. A lot of people would have never found that deer.
I appreciate all the kind words folks. It was a hunt I will never forget. As hard as it was to back out it was the right thing. I actually slept in my truck on the property that night in 28 degree weather and listened to coyotes yip and howl all night. It was killing me. After cleaning him I found that I only had a liver hit and he went no more than 175 yards and maybe 3 beds. Backing out was definitely the right call on this one.
