Hey guys, Here is a buck I call SideKick that I was able to harvest yesterday in Southwest Wisconsin. He is my biggest to date and im tickled to get him! He scored 164 1/2 gross. I got out right after the rain quit Wednesday morning and saw a buck chasing a doe on the walk in. I had only been sitting for 30 minutes and I looked to my left down a treeline and saw a buck duck into some spruces. I grunted at that buck and this deer stepped out of the spruces in front of me at 30 yards about a minute later. He put his nose to the ground and trotted my ten yard trail and walked in to 10 yards. I stopped him and shot and he ran back into the spruces and I lost site of him. I thought the shot looked a touch back so I waited about an hour and then got down grabbed my arrow and snuck out. A buddy and I came back 4 hours later and got on the trail. I had a complete pass through but not much blood. What little there was bright crimson red. I figured a liver hit maybe part of a lung. We decided to just walk a little further and then back out. We walked 10 yards and saw him bedded under a spruce sprawled out with his head down and panting heavy. We watched him from downwind for a half hour or so and I was about to try to get another arrow in him when he stood up and walked 50 more yards. I decided to back out and come back this morning. I got out about 6:30 and found him in 20 minutes 25 yards from where I last saw him. When in doubt back out. period.

I thought I'd post the measurements. Some guys like to know that stuff.

Congrats on an awesome buck! How did it go down? Chasing? Cruising? I'm heading down to my uncles farm in Mt. Hope, which is right in your neck of the woods (if you shot that buck in the Barneveld area). I've had cameras there for over a month now and haven't been able to check them. I'm excited to see what's on the camera and it's always fun to sit the hills of SW WI!

Oh, and I got him just NW of Richland center on 76 acres of land (30 CRP, 30 Hardwoods, 16 Spruce plantings) I live and hunt near Barneveld as well. I have been seeing great buck movement the last 48 hours in both areas.
