Everyones talking about their kids winning etc... my turn. My 13 year old niece qualified to go to the National riding championship this weekend. Fortunately it was in Syracuse. She had gone to the regionals in New Jersey a few weeks ago to qualify. She's in the middle school group. This is interscholastic team riding. 3 girls from her team got to go to Nationals. None from the highschool level got to. She was really down after not getting anything yesterday in the jumping as she'd really had a great ride. At these events you draw a horse and an order to ride in. They've never seen the horse. They give them a few minutes to get the feel of the horse and then you ride. Today on the "Flats" riding she finished 6th. They recognize the top 8 places. Flats is the different riding styles like trot, gallop, stop on signal, turns, make the horse back up etc. etc. She's normally better in jumping but the judges didn't see it that way. She's a happy little camper.... or should that be kantor? LOL Yesterday girls from a team from Ohio cleaned up on the top spots. Today girls from a team from Mass. cleaned up the top honors. I guess she's really my grand niece. LOL
Huge Congrats to her! Been trying to get my daughters to ride but they have no interest. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
