I'm still waiting on a bead blasted stainless 20" barrel and need to order a lower parts kit for this build. I have been wanting to do something different and I'm still trying to figure what I'm doing for a scope. Once it is completed I have an 18" build I'm going to do with a Spike's Punisher lower.

Always wanted to do a build. I run a bcm eag. and have shot most of the bcm line of rifles and always buy them complete then add accessories

Nice! What twist rate will the barrel be?

I'm still nowhere with my latest AR lower. Have the stripped lower and the parts kit. Haven't put it together. I think I still want to go with the 300 AAC Blackout upper. I can get a suppressor in Utah so it would be kind of fun to go subsonic. But for now, I'm putting my money into a Tikka T3 Lite in 300 win mag. :D

Depends on the barrel that is in stock first. Will be a 1/7 or 1/8 twist. I also plan to build a .300 blackout with a Pirate lower but that is down the road and if I don't do a 6.5 Grendel instead.

My family and I aren't really gun people (I've only shot a .22) but that looks sweet! Great work.

Nice! Wait till you start getting into other calibers, they are a lot of fun. I've got a 6.8spc carbine I've hunted yotes and big woods deer with now for a couple of years, I rarely shoot my 5.56 upper anymore.

Nice looking rifle. I'm working on two right now myself. One is complete except sights the other is a completed lower as of now. Gotta get some more $$$ for the upper.

What is an upper quality range AR manufacturer? Im thinking about getting one when I get back to the states but im a bit hesitant with all the moving I do and having to comply with local laws and all.

You just asked the Ford versus Chevy question. You can build a rifle that is usually than a rifle you buy complete for the same money. There are a ton of lower and upper receivers on the market and more showing up daily. There are also some great barrels out there for build with incredible accuracy.

Noveske, Bravo Company and Daniel Defense are tops. I have owned or do own rifles from each all are great rifles.

I have also owned Spikes and Rock River rifles. They are nice for the cash difference between a "mid" grade AR and the top companies mentioned above.

If I was trying to go for the best bang for the buck I would go with Spikes. If I didn't care about price the three mentioned above are the way I would go.

Buckeye is spot on, I'd also put Rock River in that mix as well. I've owned two from them and built other guns from their uppers a few times now and they are all 1" guns or less @ 100 yards and they all have functioned flawlessly.

So it seems everyone is into these AR's. What is one worth. My buddies son has one that's never been fired. He's looking to sell it. What's it worth with a high tech scope on it? Not sure of the model.. but knowing him it's good. He has two of them wanting to sell one. He has about 6000 rounds of ammo.

Kinda depends on where you look too. Have a friend that's a ffl and he's said the panic prices are starting to drop. Gunbroker would be a decent start. But like backstrap said can go from 700 to couple thousand depending on what it is and what it comes with. I built my from nothing amd have about 1400 invested, that was well before all the price spikes as well.
