That past few years I've had to itch to get into bowfishing more during the off season, but just never found the time nor did I have the gear. My dad emailed me this afternoon and said the carp are really starting to come up into a flooded area in his backyard and I finally said enough is enough. I ordered the full AMS kit (arrows, tips, rest, retriever reel) before I left work so it will be here by this weekend. My only dilemma was that I didn't have a bow to put it on. I really didn't want to strip down my Marquis and beat it up using it for bowfishing, so what was a guy to do? I stopped in my local shop on the way home from work to see what used bows they had that they could part with. Much to my surprise they two brand new Parker Wildfire XP's (07s or 08s, not sure) for $125 each. Needless to say, I walked out with a new bow and I'm ready to kill me some fishes this weekend. Oh, and I can take the stab and sight off and sell them on ebay, maybe make a few bucks back. :D
Looks like a good find! Lemme know what you get out of that stab; I've got one just like it except in all-black I need to sell as well! :d
Not as good as a recurve or longbow I'm sure, but good enough for me. Back in the day when I was in high school I used my hunting setup with some Judo points, so its a step in the right direction anyways. :D Mike and I are gonna do some filming this weekend of setting up the bow and hopefully shooting some fish so if all goes well we'll have some updated video for the site soon.
Cool! Come on out to Wonder Lake on June 20th. (5:45am to noon) They have a nice little tourny there that day. I'm thinking of shooting from my canoe. I look forward to the video. You need any tips, let me know.
Here Fishy, Fishy!! Be sure to take that yellow zip tie off first tho! You going out with Brackett??:d
As in the Wonder Lake by us.. McHenry county... in Wonder-tucky Illinois?(no offense to Kentuckians).
excellent! nothing better than finding a real good deal on a bow when you need it. Good luck out there breaking it in on those fishes!
