I picked up an old jon boat and a bowfishing platform this weekend. It's a 16' boat with a 52" bottom and a 45HP Merc on the back. I saw the platform advertised for $50 bucks so I figured I'd put that on the front to gain a little elevation. Now all I need is a trolling motor and maybe rig up some lights. Gonna continue bow hunting right thru the summer. Look out Carp here I come!! Found a little time to do some work on my bowfishing boat. Got the deck mounted, lights installed, troller mounted and rubber mat installed on the deck. A few lights in place. Rails back on. Troller mounted and mat installed. Not quite ready to go fish sticking, but getting close.
Is that hole in the deck for a foot control troller? If you can, get a hand control troller.... a foot controlled one will be annoying and hard on your hip and leg. (tho you can convert a foot control into a hand controlled one.. kind of)
Sweet boat!!!! Well done. The deck is gonna need some tweaking though. Can't wait to see the first fish shot from her.
PRetty sweet setup. I have a 20 foot pontoon that I hope to convert. I have the lights, generator, and bow rigs. I just need a motor and a trolling motor.
If your serious, I might take you up on that We have to bring Diamond Don though, Ill need someone to pick on :D
Not all at once, it might get a bit crowded. I redid the shooting deck and got it bolted down, now I need to get the lights set up. I still have to find a trolling motor too. Anybody got a long shaft troller they need to get rid of?
Check out craigslist JM, I picked up one for my canoe last year for cheap on there, and there were a ton listed.
"Not all at once, it might get a bit crowded" John, it's like being only person with a pickup truck when your friends need help moving. :D
You're gonna have a lot of fun with that setup. Be sure and let us know how it works! I've really been looking into getting an old boat and decking it out, just haven't found the right deal yet.
