When I first started bowhunting, a guy gave me a stand like that which he had built himself. He told me to get a serpentine belt to wrap around the tree as the "hand climber" portion. I tried it in the yard a couple of times, and appreciated the generosity...but just couldn't seem to feel comfortable hunting out of it for some reason.
