Got a call today at 6 am from a buddy of mine that just bought 86 acers and asked me if i would like to bowhunt there... You bet i replyed he sent my a picture of the property and just wanna see what you guys think about it so far. i havnt seen it but from what he told me he rents the field to a farmer that grows corn. if you just got this spot where would you start scouting? the water or the field? That's awesome!! My first steps would be checking out the water area for signs and maybe even a crossing place.
Looks like it could be some pretty good hunting grounds once you get the time to scout it out and find the crossing points!
im so pumped!!! this yr should be another great yr! first i got the 86 acer in Nashville GA now this 86 acres in South jersey... best part my friend doesnt hunt so he wont be telking me what i can and can not shoot lol
It looks like it gets thick about 100 yards from the river. I would look for trails that lead from the water to the thicker stuff for early season when its hot and the deer need something to drink. It also looks like there are some open areas more towards the field. They could be great staging areas where a buck might be roaming closer to November. Either way looks like a great property. Good luck.
I'd try to find crossing points at the water and trails out to the field and try to pattern their movement. I'm about 4 hours from Nashville, GA, any good hunting there?
I personally havnt been there since i was a kid. my sister and i inherited the land. she moved down there i stayed. bit just mailed my nephew 3 trail cameras to put up for me. He tells me theres alot of hogs and "Hogzilla" was shot around there area. im going down in August to sell some trees and check up on the cat fish pond.
I grew up in north Georgia, love it there and if I can find a job flying would like to move back once I retire from the Army
i absolutely love GA i stayed in Nashville and Augusta GA as a child and i grew on me. if i could find work down there i would be there in a second.
i just called a friend that owes me a favor. he'll be spending the weekend with me looking for deer sign. lol thanks for the tips guys hands down best forum ive been on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Congrats on the new place to hunt! Looks like great spot with that cornfield and then the creek. Like others said, I would start looking for trails and then crossing points on the creek.
went out there today to have a peek around. the fields are bare now but was told they do a late crop every yr by a neighbor. i dont know what it will be but something will be there later in the season. plenty of deer sign on dirt around the field and alot of deer crap in the tree line. also when we got to the fields edge there was about 15 turkey out in the field.so looks pretty good so far but need to scout some more. made it about half way before it downed poured. so back at it again this weekend Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
