Hey everyone, I recently finished building a carpet target after my bag target started falling apart. Hopefully I can get years of usage out of this one.

I saw a few videos on YouTube where guys made these and it seemed pretty straight forward. I had all of the materials sitting around at home, except for the steel rods.

    The materials used are:

    - two pieces of 2"x10" that were already cut 31" each from when we built our deck
    - two 9' long 3/8" steel rods bought from Canadian Tire that were cut into six 3' pieces
    - twelve 3/8" washers
    - twelve 3/8" nuts
    - lots of carpet (more than you'd expect) cut into 9"x26" pieces

I drilled six holes into each 2x10, about 2" away from the ends, spaced about 2 1/2" apart. Then I fed the rods through the holes of both 2x10's and screwed on the nuts with the washers on the outsides. I then layered all the carpet between the two pieces of wood. Once enough carpet was jammed in there I tightened the nuts until enough the carpet was compacted enough to stop my arrows.

Easy as that! The longest part was cutting all of the strips of carpet.

The target is 31"x25"x10", and has a shootable area of 24"x18".

These arrows were shot from 10 yards. They are 390 grains, shot at 285 fps.
The are easily pulled out with one hand, and only penetrate the other side of the carpet about 3".

My arrows have only seen the target about 40 times each, but there is no visible damage to them, and I'm happy with how the whole project turned out.

    Thanks for looking!
