I have been bow hunting for years but never got into the technical side of things. I have been shooting a Reflex made by Hoyt that I bought in 2007. Its way past the time for a new bow and I have purchased a 2009 High Country Speed Pro. I have a dozen Redhead Carbon Supreme 250 arrows I have been using in my old bow and I am trying to figure out if I can shoot them safely with the Speed Pro. I am shooting 29" draw and pulling 63-64 lbs. I have been trying to do my own research on the right arrow to shoot but my head is spinning. The last thing I want to do is attempt to shoot one of these arrows out of the new bow and to have it fail causing damage to me or the bow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check bass pro website for the arrows you have, it should tell you what draw weight and length is right for those arrows. I shoot bemans and you would be good with either 400or 340's I believe.

I found this chart on the Red Head Carbon Supreme arrows. The columns are all screwed up but if I'm reading it correctly, at 63-64# and 29" you should be shooting the 350's. The 250's would be under spined.

Shaft Selection Chart Draw Wt. Shaft Size (lbs.)
    26″ 27″ 28″ 29″ 30″ 31″ 32″
    40-45 – - 250 250 250 250 250
    46-51 – - 250 250 250 350 350
    52?-57 250 250 250 250 350 350 350
    58-63 250 250 250 350 350 350 350
    64-69 250 250 350 350 350 350 350
    70-75 350 350 350 350 350 350 350
    76-?81 350 350 350 350 350 350 350
    82-87 350 350 350 350 350 350 -

The chart was found on this web page

Edit: Let me add that I'm no expert on arrows. Hopefully some else will see this chart and confirm.

I am thinking that I might be able to pass these down to my son ( who is planning on bow hunting for the first time this year). He is shooting 42lbs with a 24" draw. Does this sound about right? He is planning on using 100 gain tips

A 250 spine should be fine for him just be sure you get them cut down for his bow to lighten them up even more! I just bought some Black Eagle arrows i need a 400 spine for 63-64 lbs at a 28 inch draw
