Is in place and ready to hunt! Here it is loaded up on the trailer. We had to wait to roll the straw on until we got there otherwise I think it would have all blown off. We had to drive 40 mph all the way there (20 miles) down the back roads because I didnt want to break anything, I have put way to much work into it! Over the luscious Big n' Beasty, completely finished and ready to bow hunt out of! Look at those leave's!!! I was lucky enough to have a neighbor that let me used his four wheeler and disk. Its about a 3/4 acre plot 20 yards wide all the way down. This is a staging plot with beans to the west, corn to the south west, and bedding to the east. This is my only kill plot on this property and I think if I just stay out of there until after the first couple hard frost's that this spot will be money. I am very satisfied with the blind as well as the food plot. I Put many hours into both and am hoping they pay off.
Nice! I have a half acre plot of big n beasty just about full grown. It looks great and already has tons of deer in it!
I'm working on one of those blinds myself. Using cattle panels to form the outside. Have 4mil black plastic drop-cloth to go over that and roll of 4'x180' erosion control straw matting for final layer. Any tips you can give me that might make things easier?
Sounds like your doing everything right. Just make sure you have the straw strapped down good otherewise you will loose a lot of it.
Check out blind ambition bail blinds. They make a portable version that is very nice. Well built, a killer blind. They are worth checking out.
Looks really great! Wouldnt bigger windows be more practical? It is still better than anything I could build.
That was my original intention, but they're too expensive for my budget. Midwesthaybaleblinds.com has some about half the price, but why do that when I can build my own for around $100? Plus I get the great feeling of knowing I did it myself. Great feeling of satisfaction when you do something yourself
You built that stud blind for about 100. That is amazing, nice work. You will have to take some pictures of the inside brackets or post the plans. I would consider building one for my farm. I think you could set it out at any time of the season and bucks would not mind. The guys at Blind Ambition said they turn the windows backwards, showing the black. They notice that bucks get used to the black then when they hunt with the windows open deer are not spooked. Good luck.
I put the plot in way earlier than recommended but it has grown so slow because of the drought it worked out perfect. As for the guys asking for plans I kinda just winged it. I saw the Ambition Blinds at the deer and turkey expo last year and I just kinda went off of that. I cant give you any dimensions but here is the tread stating all of the materials used. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. If you would like I could bring a tape measure out next time. But like i said i just kind of winged it and had me and my brother sit down, one of us with a bow so it was just big enough to shoot 360 deg. For those of you that are saying the windows should be bigger you are probably right i would have liked to make them a little bit longer. I'm hoping it will work just find but I might get out there and fix it before the season before it cost me a nice buck. Here is the tread with most of the info. http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?33436-My-Hay-Bail-Blind
That looks awesome. I am going to be building one very soon for a new property that I got. Think I have all my plans already figured out but would like to see yours to see if I should change anything.
Do you have any idea what you will be using for the frame? Because I found with the PVC you could always make something larger and trim it down to the whatever works best for you. We had to make everything a little larger than i would have liked with my brother being 6'6.
