I agree that they are a pain but I was brought up don't kill anything you can eat and not eat it. So if you plan on not eating it, don't kill it. Build a fence or some way to keep them out. They are just doing what is right to them and eating. But come season, I will kill a ton! And eat them.
As a general rule, I agree with you. Just curious if you have ever killed a coyote. If so, did you eat it? I have killed coyotes and I wouldn't dream of eating one. I kill them to save some fawns which later on, I will be able to shoot and eat. Here's the way that I see it. I'm going to be eating all of the stuff from the garden that this rabbit was. Also, my grandmother paid good money for the plant that it destroyed. I was protecting my dad's property from a varmint.
Agreed Agreed. As I said though "but I was brought up don't kill anything you can eat and not eat it." You can't eat them Coyoters.. I guess ya can but I wouldn't think of it. All I was saying is I wouldn't do it, not saying I am mad at others that do! Another thing, how loud was the little guy once the arrow struck him? The ones that I have killed with a bow were extremely loud!
The first one I shot I was 15 and I shot it off the back deck and I didn't know what to do right after I hit it, it wouldn't shut up and our neighbors were big animal right people lol.
I'm not familiar with Cabool so I checked it out on google. We went to Mansfield last year (I think that was the town). My daughter loves Little House on the Prairie and there is a museum there as this was the last place that she lived. We also went to DeSmet SD a couple of years ago as she lived there in her early life on a homestead. Very interesting stuff. As for anything on camera, I have only had mine out for a week now and I haven't went and checked it yet. My BIL was having an issue with his neighbor and we were using it for some covert surveillance lol. I'll probably get out and check it later this week and see what is running around. What about you? Nothing big grows south of I 70 in MO, right???
This is a weird gray area if you ask me. If this guys grandma called an exterminator, they'd come out and kill the rabbit. In that case it's legal. Now, if he was going out for the sole purpose of taking game it would be a different issue. In that vane, I applaud you for removing a nuisance with such a skillfully placed shot.
WRONG! There are big deer everywhere. People may not see them but they are there. I have about 10+ deer that are for sure shooters as of last year and some new property I am excited about. You'll have to come down here and hunt a few times when find time. Take your vacation in November and come on!
Here in KS rabbit season is year round but from what I've heard and read you really don't want to eat any till after you get a couple good hard freezes because they carry a ton of parasites. Good luck with your rabbit control. My dad and I took around 20 rabbits out of his garden 3 years ago and it didn't even slow them down. Put fence up didn't matter they tore it up or dug under it. Ended up just saying bye bye to the beans and pepper plants they didn't mess with much else but they reeked havoc on those two things. Luckily where they moved to now they don't have a rabbit infestation. Actually in the 2 yrs they have lived there I think we have seen one and that was in their dogs mouth.
I was just kidding. I do 90% of my hunting south of I 70 and that's what everyone seems to believe. I'm ok with that. Stay up there and leave the little guys down here alone lol. Unfortunately for me, I am a school teacher and my time off is now. I don't have the luxury of taking a week off during the rut. I have to use some sick days here and there. I've learned to watch the weather and pick days that will maximize deer movement and make the best of it. For some reason, the first Wednesday of rifle season has always been a great day for hunting.
You guys are all nuts, lol... I cant believe there are this many responses on a rabbit.........is bow season almost here yet !!!
