My first rabbit with my redtail...

Well we finally got our first rabbit on our third outing. Roxie did awesome that day - followed excellent and she had four really good chases and crashing of the brush before she finally connected with this one. It is just amazing how hard they crash the brush after these rabbits.

This vid is not the best, and it's not for the squeamish. There is close up vid of Roxie eating the rabbit and the rabbit squeals quite a bit before I can get thru all the think brush so I can dispatch it. Don't open it if that bothers you. I was breathing so heavy that is sounds like I just ran a marathon - but that brush was thick as heck. I couldn't even see her, I just followed the rabbit squeal.

I'll let her crop right up as much as she wants on her fist few kills so she associates me with pounding the brush and putting the rabbits out for her. She talks a little bit to me while changing her jesses from field ones to slitted ones so I can put her leash back on her while she's eating. You'll see she wacks me on the hand a couple times in the process as well..And believe me those aren't just love taps..she means business.

I had just bought this Contour HD Helmet cam and this was my first outing with it. So now I know a little more on how it works I hope to get some better vids of her crashing the brush..
I'm really liking this camera - I mounted it right on my hat. Whatever I'm looking at is where it's shooting video. I wish I had it on when I got my bowbuck this year. I'm sure I'll use it next year while bowhunting.

I'll get her back out hunting on Sunday this weekend and try to get some better vid of her on the move..

This is great. I have never been able to watch a redtail in action like this. Hope to be able to watch more videos that you can put together. Best of luck hunting with her.

 

Dude...that's awesome. The opening few seconds in the video is my favorite scene when she flys right in to your hand. Looks like she gave you a workout. :D
