So last night, I swapped my CanonZR for a Sony DCRHC52, then I came home and played a little George Lucas with the shotty footage that I took on Tuesday night. I tell ya what - editing the video is easy - but uploading it to a web-based hosting site is a total PITA. http://www.huntingfootage.com/showphoto.php?photo=5290 My video came out at 6.5 minutes, 24MB. It was also some weird .mswmm file type (Microsoft Movie Maker). I managed to convert it to some other random file type and upload it to www.huntingfootage.com - but I already filled 25% of my permitted bandwidth. LOL Anyway, the video is mildly entertaining - but shaky as hell. Some of it is really grainy and crappy. Most all of the deer were 200-300+, and zoomed beyond the point where it gets really grainy. I got a clip of my buddy missing a groundhog at 190 yards. He missed it by a mile. LOL Video guys - what site is user-friendly to upload them to? And what do you use as your editing software? By the way, to view this terrific piece of hunting history, you have to register on their site, but it seriously takes like 15 seconds. Just set up a username and a password. I'm thinking about entering it in the Cannes film festival.
Youtube! You don't have to sign up to view videos! I use Adobe Premiere Elements usually to edit my videos. Im pretty sure you can use Windows Movie Maker and just export the file, then load it up on youtube...
I tried to upload it to youtube, but it absolutely slaughtered the video quality. Not sure what's up with that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9keKgxWhDJ4
Get the sony tight wad, I see why you shoot what you do, LOL Buck, buck, buck doe is that a new game? BTW your choice of words is instersting, LOL
I got the Sony DCR HC52 last night. After playing with it around the house last night, it seems like the Sony focuses a lot better - and picks up a lot more light in night mode. Bestbuy has a fantastic return policy. I even got waited on by a hot girl. It must have been destiny. After further review - I think it was buck-buck-buck-buck.
Fran - I don't have time to look at the vid right now, but I would recommend getting away from Movie Maker. I used to use it until I discovered the reality that it sucks. At the very least I would look at getting a copy of Pinnacle Video Studio or Adobe Premiere Elements. Both run around $100 (for legal copies :D ) and do a MUCH better job that WMM. I'll check out your stuff later tonight when I get out of some meetings and let you know what I think. Watch out though, it's addicting!
No, he missed it both times. I got mad and shut the camera off and tried to load my gun and blast the dam thing before he missed it again and chased it away. I wouldn't have missed. I don't know what he was shooting at, but he missed it by about 5 feet. LOL Justin - I can already tell that this Microsoft Movie Maker program sucks. It's just too proprietary, b/c it puts everything in file formats that nothing else recognizes. Granted, I only used it last night for about an hour - and was pretty much shooting from the hip on everything. You're definitely right, I can tell that I'm gonna be lugging this camera around with me all the time. It's pretty amusing. If I can come up with a camera arm, I'll take it out on some self-filmed bowhunts - which will be pretty futile, but probably good for a laugh.
LMAO. You flinched when he shot! I think he did too! for the record: The foo fighters suck Nice bucks... "Ehhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrr"
Haha, very nice. I think you learned the value that tripods have in video taping hunts. I thought I was gonna puke on the field scenes. I like the Bob Marley background music though.
