Last night I had an absolute awesome evening...well actually afternoon. I went into work early and left early in hopes of being able to get in the stand and put some more time in and I was able to get into my stand around 12:30 and then I was hoping the weather would hold off as it was supposed to be stormy and windy. About 45 minutes into my sit two does came cruising up from where there is a pond and then they spooked and took off the other way...I thought it was strange that they looked so frantic and with having a history of trespassers on the property and the direction the deer came from I figured I would get down...and glass over to that direction and sure enough I saw orange. I sent my father-in-law a text message asking how far back they owned in that area and then decided to get back up in the stand. Being a man of faith, I asked the Lord to bring a deer in site that he would like for me to harvest, being a buck or doe it did not matter and also prayed about some other stuff. I then proceeded to, this sounds outrageous I know, check bowhunting.com's facebook page and was looking at the post with the staffer who tagged two bucks in 30 minutes and I hear sticks breaking. I quickly put my phone away and see a doe coming around the corner and then hear more crunching about 5 yards behind my stand to see a larger doe; I thought I was going to be winded for sure but she ended up walking right below my stand and offered up a perfect shot at about 3 yards. I let loose my arrow and watched the blood start to pump out of her. I was jacked! I immediately called my wife and then went and did the track job; she had ran about 65 yards and expired at the bottom of a draw. As I was walking back to put my bow away I hear a car cruising up the driveway and it was my father-in-law responding to my text about a possible trespasser, but it all worked out perfectly as he didn't know I shot a doe. We then proceeded to tag her, gut her, and skin her. Anyway, I hope all my fellow hunters out there are having a blessed season. Best of Luck. Josh
Well done. I'll never forget my 1st bow kill...well I hope I get a ton more and I do forget, but it's been a few years and I remember it vividly.
