I was an exciting day to say the least! I went out for the morning hunt and kicked up 2 deer on the way to my tree stand. When I got to the top of my stand imagine my surprise I find a bone on my seat. I wonder what was sitting up there chewing on that? (See picture) I figured it must be good luck I sat until 8:30 and did not see anything. so I get up and stretch and say to myself... Self lets get out of here. then decide I will stay until 9:00 at that moment two doe come running up the hill and stop right in front of my stand. So I pull up and they never even saw me. I shot the first of the two doe About a 15 yard shot. She runs off and I wait for a while. (I made a really cheesy bow hunt or die video.. that I will try to post later.) then head home for about an hour. I tracked the deer for over three hours but I found her. she was 300 yards away from where I shot her. I got a lung and then the arrow took a bad turn and went into the guts. the guts plugged up the hole so there was not much blood to follow. I want to thank everyone here for all of the advise they post. it really helped me have the confidence to not only shoot my first deer but also track her.
Thanks everyone! I hunt on my own land. nobody else hunts or comes on it. but I had t he same thought. was it placed there by somebody to see how often i use my stand or to see if it's used at all.
Congrats on your first doe with a bow. That definitely looks like a deer bone...maybe from the spine near the hips.
