Traded my SD card for another this morning. I had the camera set at 10 seconds with one pic. Taking into consideration this is my very first trailcamera, after 6 days in the woods watching a trail this is my early opinion: 37 pics.........no whiteouts whatsoever. All pics were clear. 2 pics captured the tiny sapling which was visibly moving in a breeze. Moving animals blurred somewhat, but from what I understand most trailcams do blur with moving animals. The worst was a young 6 or 8 pt. running. One pic was in black/white although it was late afternoon/evening. At night it seemed most of the deer were aware of the cam and some seemed spooked..........possibly because I left the LEDs on the max of 46. Later on I will switch it to the 25 setting and see what happens. Mine doesn't have a loud 'clunking' sound, just a very slight click. My opinion is the very slight sound didn't spook deer. It is hardly noticeable on my cam. I was impressed by the range........two small dogs showed on one pic(approximately 60 or more feet away). Battery life showed 85%. I am guessing I will get 2-3 months of battery life in these cold temps. I am currently using Ray-o-vac alkaline batteries. My initial impressions are: 1. Clear pics 2. Impressive range 3. Moving animals will show blurs I still need to tweak my setup and learn from my mistakes on setup. I believe I made a mistake by setting up the cam too near a main trail as I easily may have missed deer behind the cam. With the range the cam has shown, I believe I could back off the trail another 15-20 feet and have more and better results. I also made a mistake in having the camera perpendicular to the trail. I moved the cam before Ieaving this morning to be at an angle to the trail, therefore seeing the animals longer as they are coming and going. I also changed the settings to 30 seconds and a burst of 3 pics, so I'll find out what that may do as well. I also used bare hands handling the camera, I took no precautions for any scent control. I might find it interesting to see if there would be any difference if I sprayed the camera case and surrounding small saplings I had broken off. I have the camera placed in a transitional area, where deer will travel from east/west to west east only. Not the best setup for the most quantity of pics, but I am easing into this camera thingy. So far I am very pleased with my purchase and would do so again. I still have another new one in a package..............just haven't taken the time to place it in an area yet. I will soon! Following is a sample of pics taken, both clear and blurred:
Good review! I am thinking about purchasing this camera but was worried about it spooking deer. It would be set up over feed so if the deer stood their eating and it keep taking pictures would they run away after a few clicks/infarred flashes?
I really don't know. I am new at this. Several of the deer seemed spooked, not real sure if it was because of the full 49 LEDS or the slight click noise at the pic. Honestly mine is not very noticeable at all(noise, in fact I really had to listen for it). I believe it was the lighting causing some to spook. I am going to try the 25 setting next time I retrieve the SD card.
Thanks for the review. I really like the daylight pics but the IR blur does seem to be a bit excessive. Definately a camera that is worth the price. Blessings.....Pastorjim
I would agree the ir flash spooks game big time, I love this cam in video mode, put a large sd card in it as video fill's the sd card up fast my 2gb card filled and shut down in two weeks Some deer will not come back after the ir flash at least my bigger deer did not come back to my setup after seeing the ir flash at night running in video mode as the ir light stays on the whole 30 sec video. mine is out right now with the ir set in the low ir flash setting in pic mode, my cam has the same blurr pics as yours and is common per all the cam reveiws i have seen on this model.
ps. i have a lot of videos from this cam but i cant get them to upload to photobucket because of a slow internet connection.
