Every year I usually don't shoot any does until the late bow season and spend the early season and rut chasing bucks. For the second year in a row I have had a ton of big bucks on camera and haven't been able to seal the deal.....yet. Yesterday I decided it was time to draw a little blood and went in search of a doe. 20 minutes into the hunt I had seen 4 does and took the shot at this one. I overestimated the yardage a bit, she was on alert and I spined her. First time I have ever spined a deer. The finishing shot dispached her quickly. I had another 4 hours to sit and ended up seeing a total of 24 deer. Including 2 small bucks and 4 bucks that had shed both sides. One of those bucks may have been the big 8 or big 12 pictured below. They seem to be dropping early and like flies here....I've already found 2 sheds and my nephew has found 1.
Congrats Dan, I sat an acorn tree last night (dropping very late) and they showed up as I was lowering my bow, sat for over 30 minutes after dark and still got busted.
Congratulations Dan. I watched some of your hunts on the Bowhunt or Die videos and you sure hunt some BIG bodied bucks. Dang those things look like tanks compared to the tiny deer I hunt.
Good Job!!! I also spinned my late season doe, not the nicest thing to witness, but it takes the guess work out of it.
Gotta Lvoe BIG WI Deer. Congrats Dan. and HOLY @#$%^&* that is one tall buck (8 pointer in trailcam pic)
Congrats on the doe. Isn't that just the luck to have one of the bucks you're after come by minus his head gear?
Nice Dan. I'm hoping to do the same tonight. This morning hunt was borderline nuts. 0 degree wind chill factor, on the top of the mountain.
Congrats, Dan! Nice looking doe. What were the temps like? Yeah, you're nuts. I went out to load wood at 7AM, and there's no way I would have been in a tree this morning.
