Now BOTH of my Captures are not working properly! I put the one that I thought was working out 2 weeks ago and only got 4 pics (30 sec delay) of me leaving it and then checking it. I mean there's all kinds of tracks in the snow right in front of the friggen thing, and there's NO deer pics!! I don't get it? Can anybody tell which of these is the newer one? I got one early this season (maybe warrenty) and I bought the other in 2009. The ONLY diff I see between the 2 cams is the sticker and the mold marks (dots) on the one cam. Cudde has finally let me down.
Good luck....but if you get into contact with Cuddeback they should be able to tell you by the serial #. If you don't have the receipt don't bother calling as they will want to charge you $150 for a refurbished model for each camera. This similar problem happened to a friend of mine...they would not tell him what the problem was. By the time you get done with sending them back you could have bought a 2 more expensive, better cameras. good luck and let us know how you turn out.
Sorry to hear of your problem. You will probably have further problems with Cudde's CS. I haven't heard anyone say good things about them. Blessings.....Pastorjim
Cuddebacks are really not that good me and my friend had 5 go down in the last two years and they said the same thing about fixing or replacing. They are not worth that much new in my opinion. Needless to say no more buying those rash cameras anymore, I mean can't you stand behind you products.
I bought 2 Captures when they first came out. Both work great for me (other than the IR pics not being worth a crap). All of the bad reviews I have heard lately though, will make me think twice about getting a 3rd.
I called Cudde Tech Support and they said I need to download updated Firmware to my PC. Isn't anything simple anymore? For $200 I shouldn't have to do SQUAT to this trail cam! At least I know what's going on though. Now, to figure out how to do all of this. I'm not real PC savvy.
A couple of things I would try first. (1) New Duracell batteries. (even if you thought the latest ones were new try a different new set) (2) Different memory card. Good luck!!
MMM, I've had my Cuddeback Capture for three years and it still works awesome. I likewise own a Moultrie D55ir and a 2010 Bushnell, but by far the night time pics with this camera get them way out there and are exeptional. The only thing the new firmware does is allows you to use a bigger card than 2mb. When I got mine the literature inside said that Ray-O-Vac performed best in the camera, as such, I have had no problems to date using a preformatted sandisk 2mb card and Ray-O-Vac batteries. Likewise its interesting to note that Trailcams.com reviews and tests multiple cameras and they have had bad batteries from Durracel and Enegizer from the factory and none from Ray-O Vac.
