How long have you had it? I know they are tied to Ferris. Does your model have suspension?

That's from the blacktop fairways. Roundup is for the greens to speed them up and not have to worry about maintaining them.

Oh and as far as the mower..... I'm partial to Ferris. Own 2 of them at the course and they are beasts! One is approaching 4500 hours and still ticking fine. Just general maintenance on them nothing major so far. They get beat to heck too and keep going.

I've had mine for a season and 1/2. The front has suspension the rear does not. Unless I hit a pretty big hole at full tilt, the ride is pretty good. I mulch my leaves and it does awesome, I'll hit a stick (not twig) at least once everytime I mow and it doesn't phase it. If money wasn't an issue, I'd went with the Bobcat for the heavier deck and little bigger engine for distributing grass clippings when it's a little high, but again didn't see the money diff.

Yeah, we have a simplicity dealer very close to me, and I've considered taking a look at them since they're sort of a "budget" suspension mower. I just don't want to drop the $$, then find that I'm not getting the longevity I want, and could have had for a $1500-$2000 more.

Dan, what Hustler's are you running?

Yeah, they're sweet. Just a bit out of my price range.

I wish I could drop cash on a nice SCUT like a Kubota B series. They're so much more useful, but since I'm not financing a mower/tractor, I'm limited to a few ZTRs or a garden tractor.

I agree. Glad my dad bought them. We use them at the cabin and all my brothers and sisters yards.

We mow 4-5 acres with a cub cadet z turn, one of the cheaper models. Gets the job done no problem.

What condition is the yard in? Mostly flat? Slopes? Lots of unevenness/divots? How long have you had it?

we've got an older JD (~13yrs old) that we got new, it maintains two 3+ ac lawns down in AL, has about 1500hrs on it, give or take, 60" deck, 22hp liquid cooled v2, best damn lawn tractor I've ever used... will need something a bit bigger for our new property down there (20+ ac)...

    What model?

I'm still torn on a tractor vs ZTR. ZTR is nice for the efficiency, but it's really not good for anything else.

If it were me... I'd till an acre under for a garden. Put a beef calf and some chickens on the rest of the grass. ;)

I have the lil JD 2305 tractor which mows pretty good for a tractor. It does tractor-y things pretty good for a overgrown riding mower.

If I had to spend big bucks on a mower only... I'd hire someone to cut the grass. (more time to bowfish!)

Also on the farm animal note, our zoning doesn't allow farm animals.:D

We own just under 2 acres of land we mow with a 1960's zero turn wazoo mower. Bought two of these things for junk and made one work. Lots of homegrown riggin later it runs like a champ with two speeds.. full throttle and stop. Makes it quite interesting.

Im not saying this is the route to go, but you dont need a really expensive mower to get the job done.

This googled one is nice compared to mine :D
