Sunday night was one of my better nights ever on stand. I was behind the camera and one of my good buddies had his bow and we went to our "honey hole" because the wind was perfect, and the deer hadn't moved from high winds the last two days. We were looking to harvest a doe or one of the 3 bucks we had already decided were shooters. It was about 4:30 by the time we got up in the tree and were all set up and he looks up and a doe and two fawns are hitting the Monster Raxx. I never could get them in frame and they walked off. At about 5:00 I heard a cob get ripped off the stalk and on the edge of the field, here comes a lone doe. It was perfect she walked into the lane calm and upwind. He stopped her at 25 yards slightly quartering away and squeezed off a perfect shot that exited right behind the opposite shoulder. She ran north strait up the edge of the corn field, and we knew she wasn't going far. Within the first half hour of our hunt we had seen 4 deer and we still had 2.5 hours of light left. We decided to sit tight and see what else came by and boy i'm glad we did. After looking at the footage about 10 times and a couple high fives, we settled down and began to wait again. At 5:30 I turned around and there he was, already halfway through our shooting lane. One of our hit list bucks, an 8 point with a kicker off the base of each main beam. I tapped him and whispered "buck, buck, buck!". He turned around slowly because he figured with it only being 5:30 it was just a dink. His eyes got really wide and he stood up quick, pulled back, and shot. He had rushed it, the arrow sailed about 8 inches back. The buck bounded 15 yards, then stopped and stared our direction. My buddy quickly tried to get another arrow knocked, but then the deer slowly walked off the same direction his doe went. It was in the guts, maybe with a little liver we figured. We could hear the deer lay down about 50 yards away, but we knew he would be alive if we tried to get our doe we would bump him our of his bed. Right away we made the decision to leave them lay overnight because it was supposed to be freezing anyway. The next morning we quickly recovered the doe, now it was time to look for his buck. We found 3 drops of blood for 40 yards and decided to call our buddy with a bloodhound. As soon as the dog got on its trail it took about it a minute to find it, not more than ten yards away from where we stopped looking. He was pretty tickled about getting a double on video and so was I. I will try to get the video posted by the end of the week. [/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

You said you were running the camera....yet no video Congrats to your bud though that is awesome! I've had a double but never with bow and not a buck and doe.
What's the story with the dog? Tracker? That doe looks like she was hit with an axe... Did Churck Adams really shoot her with a Rage?
Thjat is great, right there ... can't wait for the video ... congrats to you all and kudos for waiting overnight Muzzy doesn't read .... lol ..
Oh I read it... I was just poking around a bit. That is a dandy tandem of deer, congrats to your buddy. Hey PT, he takes great pictures of his friend's hunts... Maybe Vito and he should film his brother catching Muskies together.
Man o man, it don't get no better than that. Congrats to you and your buddy for the fine teamwork and critter harvests.
That is a great story!! Congrats to both of you...especially your buddy!! Not something you get to experience often if at all...
Yeah the we brought the dog in to track the buck, she found it immediately. Yes, they were both shot with a Rage 2 blade.
Awesome! Way to get it done, and to back out with the iffy shot. Well played my friends... well played
