Try heading to a local Apple orchard and getting some windfall apples. Might be better off then with corn, they are sugary and Not nearly as abundant. the main problem I see with baiting this time of year, Especially this year is that we have So many Acorns on the ground! I duno what its like down there. But it gets harder to have deer respond to one bait pile when the whole woods is full of thier favorite forage!

I guess you may have misunderstood. What I should have said is, some people can not kill deer without it, and therefore say, "oh I do it just cause I want to and it's legal".

Not so, here. Deer can be killed without feeding in a lot of cases. Does it make it easier? In a lot of cases , yes.

Just felt I needed to clarify.

I hear you Greg. It's ain't called "Yellow Gold" around these parts for nothin'.:)

I have put out apples here and they rot on the ground. Nothing touches them.

I don't know about feeding apples, but I have cut them up around me when I shotgun hunted on the ground. Seemed to always work pretty well. Saw and shot a lot of bucks that way.

X2, yeah if you can hook him, then he might try to make some more time for bow hunting in his life. i feel his pain, but there are still days that you can sneek out for just a bit.... try and make it "Special" to him and hopfully he'll get out more???

Thanks for all the reponses guys. I will let him decide how he wants to do it. More than likely, he will use the corn for a while and then see it is not necessary. That's what I am hoping anyway. He's had a rough 10yr run of life. I want more than anything to see him truly happy again.

I killed both does this year NEAR corn piles. I just bought 1300 more lbs of corn today, so you can say I bait a little, LOL. It's very effective for does in my area, bucks not so much.

Love the avatar Germ. Anyway, do what you have to do. If it's legal, why not. I've tried baiting, before our legislature banned it, and it didn't work. Have even thought about trying C'mere deer. Not sure it would be worth it. We bait for fish don't we?

If your brother has no qualms with it, its legal in your state and it'll put meat in the freezer, where is the issue?

It all should be left up to how your brother sees it, since it's him hunting.
