Had my bro and bro in law up for thanksgiving whitetail hunting. Both bucks are great bucks and bucks I've scouted and trail cam'd I couldnt be happier for the guys. Rob's big widerack buck was one I definately would have shot. So is Matts big 6x5.. Both bucks scored in the high 150's .. Matts had a broken tine "9" inches so it ended up 149 minus the g-3 being broken off, hes gonna have the taxi fix it.. A legit 158 grossing buck with that tine. Robs big "wideracker" 5x5 as I called him went 159.. 21.5 inside, 26.5 inch mains...4x4 main frame on this buck went 155 which is pretty cool.. 23.5 outside.. I bowhunted while these guys slayed away at my bucks! LOL I was so happy to see my bro and bro in laws excitement.. both got their best bucks to date while up! Much to be thankful for! And I got to see a true giant typical that I am still hunting.. hope I find him..
Awesome bucks and congrats to your bro and bro in law Troy! Gotta give you props for putting them on the big boys....not a lot of guys would do that. Congrats again!
Thank you Dan, I mean this when I say, I would rather my brother get that buck than me, he's had a little bit of dry spell, he works so much he rarely gets the time that we used to have to whitetail hunt. He and I spent a great day together on the mountain when this one went down. I havent seen my bro this excited/happy in a long time! As for my bro in laws buck, he's elated its a giant step up for him in buck maturity! Hes on cloud nine, I told him, don't expect this every year! LOL these kind are hard to come by.. even with a rifle!
Awesome! That's what it's all about. I'm pulling for my dad more than myself during our 2 week PA rifle season.
Troy, I hope my two sons have this kind of relationship when they're grown. You have a lot to be proud of.
I did not weigh them but did drag them and hang them. Both of these deer were WELL over 200lbs on the hoof. If I had to guess I would say Matts was 250 on the hoof, the big 6x5 with the broken g-2 and Robs was a forsure 230+ on the hoof. Good sized deer considering they are mountain clearcut and browse eaters.. The long cold weather/winters out here definately weeds out the small body deer.
