Well we wnt to Jakes (my 6th grader) Regional wrestling tourney today. He battled back to the third place match. Top 3 go to the state tourney. He was down 5-2 going into the third period. He tried throwing the kid to his back when his right knee buckled and both 97 lb kids droped on it. After a ride in the meat wagon and some xrays. He has some torn ligements (dont know the medical tearms). Doctor called it an extreme sprain. His season is done. Better luck next year Jake.:(

Teejay, some advice from a guy who experienced some serious knee injuries. Make sure your son sees another doctor, a specialist. Then make sure he does everything the doctor tells him to do, which may mean he does not wrestle for several months.

That truly sucks... As I watch my boy compete in things as he's coming up, especially in karate tournaments, I can take it a lot better if he just flat out gets beat -- which I'm proud to say hasn't happened seven tournaments into his career so far... (insert proud Papa smile here) -- but I know it's gonna SUCK when he sustains an injury that just forces him out of the competition.

    Sorry to hear TeeJay. :(

Tell him we're proud of him anyway and look forward to hearing how well he does next year!!

He'll come back hungrier for success, that's for sure.

I absolutely hated sitting out in sports with an injury.
