My boss had a close call the other day with a recless teenager shooting his bow. My boss was mowing his yard and felt something graze the top of his shoulder then heard it hit a fence. He looked behind him to see a teenage boy in a hurry walking the other way with a bow. He looked back at the fence and seen what had grazed him. It was a target tiped arrow :mad1:  Well to make a long story short. the kid got a major yelling at by my boss and was being scolded by his dad when he found out. The kid had a block target ten yards directly behind where my boss was mowing grass and claims he didnt see him  Guess he couldnt here the mower to  stupid stupid stupid. Sounds like the kid had NO GUIDENCE IN THIS AREA. If it had hit him in the head or the back of the neck, he would likely be dead right now.

Dan, just how much do you like your job and how much did you pay the kid to shoot the arrow. Next time try and get a better shot, he seemed a touch off. ;)

In all honesty, the severity of accidents like that keep me from shooting in my backyard, regardless of how confident I am in my shooting ability and despite the fact I have a 6' fence around my entire property. Kids are constantly in the neighbor's backyard and I couldn't live with myself if something happened because I "had" to shoot my bow.

I have been tempted but I constantly fear someone getting hurt. That fact alone is what keeps me from walkback/creep/broadhead tuning my bow in my backyard even though I could be shooting at greater distances than what I can get out of my basement.

Hopefully the kid learned a valuable lesson.....glad your boss it okay! Life is full of close calls. Consider it a blessing he wasn't hurt.

So glad to hear that he is alright. It always find it amazing how many kids in my neighborhood are totally unsupervised. I see them doing stuff that I would never in a million years allow my kids to do. I actually was out in my yard helping my daughter shoot her little recurve a few years back before she got her compound and the cops came by and we had to stop. I couldn't believe that people in my neighborhood let kids get away with anything but my daughter shooting with me right next to her upsets them.

Lol!!! Sorry Dan but Bol's quote was a bit funny.;)

All In all though I hope It was a lesson learned by the youngster. Thank god the arrow didn't hit the guy, that could of gotten ugly for everyone on both sides. Be safe everyone!!!
