Tonight was a great hunt. It was around 25 degrees for the high today and seemed like a perfect night to go out. I called a buddy of mine to see if he could film me and he said yes so i was pumped for the evening hunt. We got out to the stand about 2:30, a little later than i was hoping, but didn't spook any deer. Got everything set up for the evening sit and about 15 mins after we got in the stand we had a group of does come in and bed behind us. They stayed there for about 45 mins and got up and headed the other way. Shortly after they left we had two young bucks come in right at 20 yards but i gave them the pass. 45 mins go by and not a single deer or anything, sure enough at about 4:35 i see antlers come right to me, i told my buddy a shooter is coming and he got on him with the camera. He came to 50 yards but stopped right behind some little trees and stood there for a good 10 mins just looking around and checking things out. He then turned and started walking slowly to our right but was also getting closer. He came into my shooting lane at 30 yards and i stopped him and put a great shot on him. He ran into the field about 75 yards and piled up. I was so excited to get my biggest buck ever and get it all on film was even better. He was the biggest bodied deer i have ever seen, we are guessing him around 225-250 but we do not have a good scale. I am guessing him to be at least 4 but it wouldn't surprise me if he is 5. My buddies helped me get the deer out....we had a long drag... and i couldn't be any more thankful. I Love being able to do this every year and i was fortunate enough to be able to harvest this awesome buck. It was a great way to end the season here in Missouri.
Congrats! Getting out there & getting it done this time of year is awesome. Love those curled in tines too.
Congrats on a really nice looking buck, those curved in tines are awesome. Now are you gonna share the film footage with us ? I would love to see it!
